The BS6 transition has taken a toll on the performance for all three bikes

  • The BS6 update will cost you a premium of up to Rs 30,000.
  • All three bikes use the same engine with the exact same power figures.
  • Power-to-weight ratio has taken a hit.

BS6 CFMoto 650NK, 650MT And 650GT Launched In India

CFMoto has launched its 650cc range in India comprising the 650NK, 650MT and the 650GT. The 650NK retails at Rs 4.29 lakh whereas the 650MT costs Rs 5.29 lakh, making both dearer by Rs 30,000. As for the CFMoto 650GT, it will set you back by Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom India), a hike of Rs 10,000. All you get for the premium is a greener running engine that makes less power than before. That said, all three still manage to undercut their respective rivals.

All three bikes, the 650NK, 650MT and 650GT use the same BS6-compliant engine generating 56.42PS at 8250rpm and 54.4Nm at 7000rpm. That's a substantial drop in terms of performance. To put things into perspective, the BS4-compliant parallel-twin 649.3cc unit on the 650NK made 61.18PS and 56Nm. Whereas, the same motor on the 650GT made 62.54PS and 58.5Nm. The 650MT was the most powerful of the lot dishing out 70.70PS and 62Nm.

To make matters worse, none of these bikes can be considered ‘lightweight’ motorcycles. The 650NK for instance, weighs 206kg, while the MT tips the scales at 218kg. The GT, on the other hand, with the pannier mounts and side cases, weighs 226kg. So the power-to-weight ratio has definitely taken a massive tumble. How this affects these bikes in the real world can only be answered once we spend some quality time with them.

That’s all there is in terms of changes. All three bikes use the exact same hardware as before. There’s no change or update on the feature front either. Bookings for the bikes are expected to commence soon with deliveries following suit shortly after.

The CFMoto 650NK competes against the Kawasaki Z650 while the 650GT and MT take on the Versys 650, Honda CB500X and the Benelli TRK 502.
