Kawasaki has launched its 230 off-road lineup in India. Now the lineup consists of the KLX 230, KLX 230 S and KLX 230 RS. All three bikes get the same 233cc air-cooled engine that makes 19PS and 19Nm.
The biggest update now is the introduction of the KLX 230 S, which offers a lowered seat height of 830 mm. Kawasaki has achieved this by reducing suspension travel to 160mm at the front and 163mm at the rear. This should make the bike now more accessible to shorter riders.
The KLX 230 RS remains the hardcore off-road machine with 270mm of ground clearance and 900mm of seat height. It weighs only 129kg making it 10kg lighter than KLX 230 and KLX 230 S. Unlike the road-going variants, it does not come with headlight and turn signals, making it a dedicated off-road machine. The KLX 230 standard version has a 880mm seat height.

The KLX 230 R S sees a price hike of Rs 10,000. The KLX 230 gets a hike of Rs 35,000. The online bookings will open soon. With the booking amount of Rs 5,500, you can complete your booking at the nearest Kawasaki dealerships.

The Kawasaki KLX 230 is a purpose-built off-roading bike and not your everyday-use bike. Though, you can use the standard or the S for your commutes if you are dedicated enough. On the plus side, you won’t have to worry about whether the tarmac exists at all. On the flip side, keeping your luggage might be a tedious affair. And you can be sure of continuous pillion complaints, if you ride with one regularly. Jokes aside, the KLX 230 is a great bike if you have a moderate riding experience and now want to develop their off-roading skills. On the flipside, the KLX 230R S is the one for those who know the basics of off-roading and now want to get into hardcore off-roading.
