Pricing for the new Shine 100 DX and CB125 Hornet are out, but there is a problem

    Quick Highlight:

    • The pricing for the Honda Shine 100 DX and CB125 Hornet have been announced in India following their unveils last month

    • The Shine 100 DX is Rs 6,097 more expensive than the base Shine 100

    • The deliveries of both bikes will commence from mid August, likely on Independence Day.

Honda has launched the Shine 100 DX and CB125 Hornet in India. The Shine 100 DX is priced at Rs 74,959 (ex-showroom Gurugram), which makes it Rs 6,097 more expensive than the base Shine 100. The CB125 Hornet, on the other hand, has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 1,12,000 (ex-showroom Gurugram). This makes it the most expensive 125cc motorcycle in the segment.

The Shine 100 DX is a slightly premium version of the Shine 100 as it gets new colour options, chrome elements around the headlight and exhaust along with a minimalistic Honda logo. Other major changes include the addition of an LCD console which also shows a real-time mileage. The bike also gets updated rear suspension with 5-step preload adjustability, and a side stand engine cut-off. The 98.98cc engine remains unchanged and makes the same 7.4PS and 8.05Nm.

The CB125 Hornet is a sporty 125cc commuter motorcycle which gets the same engine as the SP125 but makes a bit more power at 11.14PS and 11.2Nm. It comes with an all-new design language, new chassis, golden coloured inverted fork, 4.2-inch TFT console with turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts and single channel ABS. The CB125 Hornet gets a striking design, sharp body panels and is available in five flashy colour options.

    BikeDekho Says

Here’s a price comparison of both the Shine 100 DX and the Hornet 125 with their respective, immediate rivals in terms of features:

    Honda Shine 100 DX

    Hero HF Deluxe Pro

    Rs 74,959

    Rs 73,550

    Pricing ex-showroom Gurugram.

The Shine 100 DX’s pricing is pretty good in our opinion as it is pretty close to the HF Deluxe Pro that was launched just a day before the Shine’s unveil. It also manages to undercut the feature-packed Splendor Plus Xtec and the top-end Radeon variant substantially. That said, the Radeon gets a fancier looking colour-LCD console.

    Honda CB125 Hornet

    TVS Raider 125 SX

    Hero Xtreme 125R

    Rs 1,12,000 (introductory price)

    Rs 1,02,665

    Rs 1,02,100

Honda CB125 Hornet’s introductory price makes it the costliest 125cc bike in India. While there’s no confirmation about the validity of the introductory price, expect it to go up even higher later. When compared to its rivals from Hero and TVS, the Hornet only offers an inverted fork setup, which the others miss out on, and in real world conditions that is not going to make that much of a difference.

Also, the Hornet 125 and the Xtreme 125R are the only bikes in the segment to have a single-channel ABS, but as you can see from the table, the Xtreme has a big advantage of being a lot more affordable. The deliveries for both the newly launched Honda bike will commence in mid-August, so probably on August 15, 2025 (Independence Day).
