Honda could enter the retro-middleweight class to rival the Yamaha XSR700, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Kawasaki Z650RS

In October 2022, Honda unveiled an all-new, 750cc, parallel twin platform, which spawned a new lease of life for its iconic nameplates like the CB750 Hornet and the XL750 Transalp. And now, a rumour emerging from Japan hints at a third motorcycle to be based on this platform.

If you’re thinking of a supersport, well, sorry to burst your bubble. But fret not, as the prospects hint at the arrival of a proper retro motorcycle based on the versatile 750cc, parallel twin platform. This is particularly exciting as the so (possibly) called Honda GB750 may have all the elements to take the fight to the Yamaha XSR700, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Kawasaki Z650RS.

These tempting rumours were enough for renders of the Honda GB750 to be created, and upon looking at them, don’t you wish for the rumours to come true soon? Packing a proper retro aesthetic like a round headlight and console, along with a teardrop shaped tank, ribbed seat, upswept exhaust and gaitered forks, the GB750 looks drop dead gorgeous, and quite in line with the Honda CB350RS.

Considering the rising popularity of the retro-middleweight segment in India, wouldn’t this bike serve as the perfect platform to take on the vast array of Royal Enfield bikes that we have to choose from? Well, unfortunately, it may be a while until Honda takes the wrap off the GB750, and until then, you do have the Kawasaki Z650RS, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and upcoming BSA Goldstar to choose from.
