5 Most Expensive Bikes In India: The Most Expensive One Could Fetch You A House!

How much money do you think is acceptable to spend on a bike? 10 lakh? 20 lakh? 30 lakh? That amount could literally fetch you a little 1bhk in some cities in India. But then what if we tell you that 4 of the 5 bikes on the list today cost over Rs 40 lakh, and that’s just the ex-showroom price! So yeah, these 5 bikes will be taking the value-for-money equation slightly out of the picture. Without wasting much time, let’s dive deep into them: 

5th) Honda Goldwing Tour - Rs 39,90,000

Opening the innings is the only Japanese bike on the list. The Goldwing is already an exotic bike and in its latest iteration, the Goldwing Tour costs an eye-watering Rs 39,90,000. And what do you get for that money? An 1833cc six-cylinder engine and a DCT transmission, to begin with. Then there’s 121-litres of storage capacity, Apple CarPlay, an incredible amount of comfort for the rider and the pillion, heated grips, cruise control, smart key, hill start assist and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Every journalist on earth will also tell you that the Goldwing is an absolute mile muncher. 

But apart from all of this, owning a Goldwing is akin to making a statement. You’re not only buying a brilliant piece of engineering but also one of the rarest bikes in India. And if you’re ready to pay almost Rs 40,00,000 for that, it’s hard to match the Goldwing’s sheer comfort and car-like luxury levels.

4th) Ducati Multistrada V4 RS - Rs 40,67,200

When Ducati adds an ‘RS’ badge to a bike’s name, you know they’re not messing around. And you’ll see that the moment you lay your eyes on the Multistrada V4 RS. The Iceberg White livery truly looks icy cool and those red inserts will keep reminding you that this is a very fast Ducati. And then there are those 17-inch wheels which will remind you that this bike loves the tarmac. And finally, it’s the 1103cc V4 desmodromic engine which has been derived from Ducati’s MotoGP Desmosedici Stradale engine. Who would’ve thought a MotoGP-derived engine could be plonked in an adventure bike! 

But then this is an ADV on paper, but it’s meant to set tracks and twisty roads on fire. And that’s exactly why Ducati is asking more than Rs 40,00,000 for the bike. Does it make sense? Maybe not, but then neither does an ADV bike with a MotoGP-derived engine. When have Ducatis ever been about making sense? It’s all been about what the bike makes you feel. And here it’s clear. Pay a large, very large amount for this bike and get an ADV that’s more than capable of absolutely smoking full-blown sportsbikes out on a race track. 

3rd) Harley-Davidson Road Glide - Rs 42,30,000

Of course the list had to have a Harley-Davidson bike! The American company has had some incredibly expensive bikes in India and of its current lot, the Road Glide stands out with its Rs 42,30,000 price tag. And the best part is, not all colour schemes on offer can be had at that price tag. If you want the Iron Horse Metallic colourway, it’ll cost you an additional Rs 50,000. So clearly deep pockets are a prerequisite if you want this bike in your garage. 

What do you get for that money? Well, if you like big burly cruisers, it doesn’t get much better than the Road Glide. The bike’s long and low and those ape handlebars nail the quintessential cruiser riding posture. Right under that is the massive 1,923cc V-twin engine that makes a colossal 175Nm. For perspective, that’s more than a lot of the cars out on our roads today. Finally, the dual exhaust setup and chunky, spacious panniers complete the authentic cruiser look. In sum, if you want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger riding the Fat Boy in Terminator, the Road Glide will definitely play its role. The rest is up to you…

2nd) BMW M 1000 XR - Rs 45,50,000

If you thought the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS was a bonkers ADV, the BMW M 1000 XR takes things up a notch. And that’s because this is a 201HP ‘adventure bike’! For perspective, only the top-spec track-oriented superbikes like the BMW S 1000 RR, Kawasaki ZX-10R and the Ducati Panigale V4 make more than 200HP. And it definitely makes sense to put the M 1000 XR in this company because BMW claims the bike has a top speed of 278kmph. Sounds like slightly fast touring because BMW seems to be taking the ‘sport’ in sport touring VERY seriously. So what does it take to own the world’s fastest adventure bike? Rs 45,50,000….only! 

1st) BMW M 1000 RR Competition - Rs 55,00,000

And the 1st spot in this list goes to another BMW, the M 1000 RR. The ‘M’ in the moniker says it all because pretty much everything on the bike is race-spec. There are different brakes, more aerodynamic windshield, carbon wheels, lighter exhaust setup, an optimised engine and winglets too. And these are winglets that work and actually provide usable downforce, unlike some bikes which max out at about 160kmph and still have winglets. In short the M 1000 RR Competition will not only make for an incredible track bike but could also make for a fantastic eye candy in your living room, once you decide to retire the bike. 

Now if you’ve been waiting for the Kawasaki Ninja H2R to pop up on this list, sorry to say but the exotic supercharged bike isn’t currently listed on the Japanese brand’s India website. The last time the bike was on sale in India, it cost a gut wrenching Rs 79.9 lakh ex-showroom. Also, the bike isn’t road legal so taking it to your office everyday would be…illegal. In fact, a bigger surprise is that there’s none of Ducati’s sporty bikes on this list. And that’s because its limited edition bikes like the Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini (Rs 72,00,000) and the Panigale V4 R (Rs 69,99,000) aren’t currently on sale in India. And that means even the most expensive sporty Ducati bike, the Panigale V4 S, costs a measly Rs 36,50,000 (ex-showroom India).
