2019 TVS Apache RR 310: Five Things To Know

Here’s a closer look at what has changed and what hasn’t

Here’s a closer look at what has changed and what hasn’t

TVS Motors launched the updated Apache RR 310 in India at Rs 2.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The additional Rs 2,652 over the older model gets you a crucial mechanical update along with some cosmetic changes that add to the Apache RR 310’s sinister-looking design. Here’s a closer look at what has changed and what hasn’t.

Does it look any better?

Even though it’s just a new paint job, the “Phantom Black” paint scheme (as TVS calls it) does add to the bike’s stealthy appeal. Besides the paint finish, the bike sports white and red racing stripes, identical to the Racing Red colour scheme.

Benefits from a slipper clutch:

The Apache RR 310 came packed with features which made it a worthy contender in the sub-400cc segment. However, the previous-gen model missed out on one crucial feature, a slipper clutch. Now though, TVS has equipped the bike with the feature and it should help you gain more control over the bike.

How does this help? Well, when you shift down hard on a conventional clutch, the rear wheel tends to lock up making the bike unstable or resulting in wheel hops. In a similar scenario, a slipper clutch allows for a certain amount of controlled slippage enabling the rear wheel to spin rather freely instead of locking up. Essentially, you could rapidly shift down a couple of gear in wet, snowy or dusty conditions and still have better control over the bike.

On the other hand, the company claims the assist feature lightens the clutch action by a whole 20 per cent. TVS also says the gearshift effort has been decreased by 13 per cent.

Can it be retrofitted onto older bikes?

Of course! Customers can retrofit this slipper clutch onto older Apache RR 310s for a nominal amount of Rs 3,950. You could get this done at your nearest TVS dealership.

Pricing:

The updated TVS Apache RR 310 retails at Rs 2.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is a minor price hike of Rs 2,652 over its predecessor.

What hasn't changed?

The updated model continues to draw power from the same 312.2cc, liquid-cooled motor that dishes out 34PS at 9700rpm and 27.3Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed gearbox. There’s no change in the underpinnings either.

While the changes are minor and manage to just about spice things up for now, we really hope TVS offers a bit more in terms of power and engine refinement in the near future.

Super Bike in 310 segment

TVS Apache RR 310 is a fantastic bike for city and highway both. I have used it for 2 years and the performance is superb. The riding posture is sporty but not too aggressive for daily use. Mileage is around 28-30 kmpl in city and 35 on highway which is good for a 310cc. TVS service cost is reasonable compared to KTM or BMW. Parts are easily available in Pune. Features like glide through technology, ride modes and digital console are very useful. Only issue is pillion seat is not comfortable for long rides. Overall build quality and handling is excellent. Highly recommended for beginners who want a sports bike feel. Best bike in this segment under 3 lakhs.Read More

The Roar of the Apache Rr310

The bike is very good for beginning. I started my riding journey from this bike. This beast give the ideal knowledge and power of big bikes and can achieve a good skill of driving. I ride the bike like 1200km in one stretch without any compliant. I love the machine and the electronics provided by the company. This bike easily achieve 150kmps without any worth and doesn’t wobble and the corners are very smooth while cornering and for a while it’s just a starch. It will pull you up and handling is favourable and the engine is too much refined in the segment, it offers with BMW engine and I have installed a air filter for better performance (k&n).Read More
