The sub-one lakh rupee segment is still alive and kicking, despite the sea changes in the industry. Here’s what to expect in 2021

[UPDATE: TVS has launched its 125cc offering, called the Raider. To know the specs, pricing and other details, head to our launch story here]

Inflation, covid-affected economy, international conflicts, and new auto regulations have all played either a direct or an indirect role in impacting the prices of commuter bikes in India. But despite all of them, the sub-1 lakh rupee segment is still thriving in the country, and a couple of new bikes are expected to grace the market as well. Here’s what we can expect in 2021:

    TVS Victor BS6:

    Expected price: Rs 62,000

    Expected launch: Q1, 2021

The TVS Victor 110 is the only already-existing bike that is yet to be launched in its BS6 guise by the Hosur-based manufacturer. While it was earlier planned to be launched in mid-2020, the coronavirus pandemic had other plans for the venerable commuter bike. Expect the brand to launch the bike in the first quarter of next year, if we’re being optimistic.

Apart from a cleaner, fuel-injected 110cc motor (likely to be carried over from the TVS Radeon, albeit in a different state of tune), we also expect a revised design, LED headlamp, redesigned instrument cluster and perhaps a silent starter. As far as the pricing is concerned, the BS6 Victor could command a premium of around Rs 6000 to Rs 8000 over its BS4 price, which was Rs 56,622 for the base variant. You can read more about the bike here.

    TVS Fiero 125:

    Expected price: Rs 70,000

    Expected launch: Q1, 2021

TVS recently applied for a trademark for the name ‘TVS Fiero 125’, sparking speculations of its launch in the near future. The Fiero was one of the brand’s first performance-oriented commuters, which really paved the way for the sporty Apache lineup. And now, it looks like TVS could resurrect the name, albeit in a 125cc guise. Expect the TVS Fiero 125 to be a performance-themed commuter bike, like the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon.

It could get a TVS NTorq 125-derived engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The styling is expected to be inspired from the Apache range, but perhaps, we could see the original Fiero’s design elements at places too. It is also expected to be peppered with modern features like an LED headlamp, semi-digital instrument cluster and the likes. TVS could launch the motorcycle in early-2021, at an ex-showroom price of around Rs 70,000. Here’s an in-depth analysis of what else we can expect from the bike.

Most of the manufacturers have already launched updated commuter motorcycles this year as a part of their new BS6-compliant lineups. That is why it is less likely for brands to launch several all-new products next year. That said, companies could keep their portfolio fresh by introducing one or more colour schemes / special edition variants of their popular bikes, particularly during the festive season to capitalise on the surge in demand.

      TVS- RAIDER
I choose raider because one of my friend suggested me to buy as this bike is good nice looks and good mileage. The solo seat version of the bike is very good looking like similar to pulsar and it feels very light weight to ride this bike. The ride with the TVS raider was amazing till now, no breaking points were given by this bike, still rides the same smooth and the sound of the filter of this bike is best. The disc provided is also good, breaks tyres, engines, every thing is very good. I would like to recommend this bike to everyone other because of its looks, smooth rides, pretty good disc, nice colours, best engines, nice mileage and more than that the trust on TVS. They have been creating beats like this for very long now.
