Looks a bit different from the Ather 450X and the Rizta, will undercut both in terms of pricing

    Quick News Highlights:

    • Ather shares first official teaser of its upcoming EL scooter platform

    • To debut on August 30 at Ather’s Community Day

    • Production of EVs based on this platform planned in 2026

Ather has officially teased its next big product, the ‘EL’ scooter platform, through posts on its social media channels. The Bengaluru-based EV maker showed an outline of the e-scooter based on this platform - a glimpse ahead of its official reveal on August 30 during the annual Ather Community Day event.

    What The Teaser Suggests

We tried to tinker with the teaser image, and by tweaking the brightness, contrast and other aspects, it appears to have a handlebar cowl-mounted headlight with indicators on either side, along with a LED DRL on the apron. Buyers in the affordable scooter segment prefer a conventional-looking scooter with the headlight in the headlight cowl.

Case in point is the Honda Activa - whose design has remained more or less the same for decades. Hence, by this logic, Ather might be targeting such customers with a simpler looking scooter, and having a handlebar cowl mounted headlight would make sense.

    Most Affordable Ather Yet

The EL platform is being developed to support lower-cost scooters, aimed at expanding the brand's reach beyond the premium family and sporty segment i.e. the Ather Rizta and 450 series respectively. The production rollout of scooters built on this platform is planned to begin in 2026.

While the current Rizta and the Ather 450 scooters continue to occupy the higher price bracket, the first EL-based scooters are expected to be priced closer to Rs 60,000, especially with BaaS (battery as a service) scheme - making them competitive with budget-friendly models from Ola Electric and Hero’s Vida.

    Charging And Software Updates

Alongside the teaser of the EL platform, Ather confirmed that its August 30 event will also feature the launch of next-generation fast chargers and the rollout of its updated software, AtherStack 7.0. The new software promises better ride data accuracy, new features, and an improved user experience.

Expect the charging time to also go down considerably with the new-gen chargers. For perspective, the top variants of the Rizta and Ather 450X charge from 0-80% in 4 hours 30 mins currently.

    Bigger Plans In Motion

The company has also been working on lowering manufacturing costs through greater localisation including LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries that are cheaper, safer in Indian conditions, and longer lasting.

Ather is also developing new motor technologies that don’t rely on imported rare-earth materials. The brand’s in the process of expanding its retail presence across India as well, with plans to nearly double its experience centres by March 2026.

    Concept(s) Teased

Alongside all this, Ather’s CEO - Tarun Mehta - has also teased what looks like 2 concepts on his social media. One of them looks to be a futuristic sporty scooter, something along the lines of the TVS X electric scooter. It’s pretty evident from the muscular apron, contoured seat and a high-set tail section.

While Tarun Mehta mentions “After refusing to do one for years, for the first time, we are showcasing a concept vehicle…” indicating that there’ll only be one concept electric scooter, the last few seconds of the teaser seem to show something completely different.

It appears to resemble a headlight cowl along with a flyscreen up top, and fork arms below, but the tail light seems to be really high - perhaps a play on the angle to deliberately confuse us. This one could be an electric bike concept. Whatever it is, we’ll have a clear picture (quite literally) by the end of next week.

    BikeDekho Says

Initially, Ather was solely focussing on offering the best when it came to the performance electric scooter segment. Soon after, the company started to diversify as the premium family-oriented electric scooter segment showed huge promise, and launched the Rizta range.

Now, Ather seems to be continuing in the same (right direction in our opinion) direction with its plans of offering a quality, (hopefully) feature-packed yet affordable e-scooter for the masses. We will report live from the Ather Community Day event, so stay tuned.

Ather's upcoming future scooter makes scooters kee
My friend has bought this scooter and I have also ridden it. It has very good ride quality and gives very good range. Even 2 people can sit comfortably. It gives good range. The seat is also very comfortable. I would recommend everyone to buy it because it is the best. It is the best in mileage. It drives on the road and highway as if you are sitting in a car. The suspension is very good. Even on rough roads, there is no problem as its suspension is very firm and soft, so there are no jolts at all. I like it. Actually, this scooter is good for everyone from small children to adults. It does not cause any jolts at all and runs very smoothly. Whom not to buy is not a word in my dictionary because this scooter is made for everyone. I will recommend it to everyone.

      My opinion
It has clean finishing good looking, thin having, good mileage, having better features than any other petrol scooter, it is electric vehicle it is sports scooter so it has modes too fast charging service centre is available. I had done something around 12000 km driven this scooter for long ride it isn't good it is slightly uncomfortable it could give you back pain and scooter may could get heat if you are riding in the summer weather. This scooter isn't for long ride but if you want this for going to college, school or for work it's good vehicle. This scooter looks attractive and has good enough speed to reach the destination. Its good scooter you can go for it if you want.

      Way Better Than I Expected!
Honestly, it was the Warp mode and the sheer acceleration. I wanted the quickest scooter on the road. The 'regenerative braking was very good in traffic areas. The transparent panels look sharp, too.. Overall its worth these performance is very impressive as it claims. Hitting 80-100 km/h is instant and effortless. On the highway, it holds its speed well, but you definitely have to stick to Eco/Ride mode to get a usable range. The Magic Twist feature is a game changer for stop-and-go traffic. Yes, I would recommend it, but only for the right person. Buy it if you love performance, want a premium, feature packed experience, and mostly use it for city or short distance highway travel. Don't buy it if range anxiety is a major concern, or if you are on a tight budget it's expensive and some features are behind a subscription.
