Ultraviolette X47 Crossover vs KTM 250 Adventure: Which Tourer Looks Cooler?

The Ultraviolette X47 Crossover is the newest electric motorcycle from the Bangalore-based manufacturer. It is a break from the sporty and aggressive design philosophy which we had seen on the F77 Mach 2 and the F77 SuperStreet. The new bike is positioned as a touring bike, and interestingly, the base variant’s introductory pricing puts it right against the closest petrol-powered touring-friendly equivalent, the KTM 250 Adventure. We compare the two in detailed images:
Design
The Ultraviolette X47 stands out with its futuristic design, and its name is inspired from the Northrop Grumman X-47B, an unmanned aeroplane. It gets a sharp beak and a sleek headlight section similar to the one we have seen on the F77 Mach 2 and SuperStreet. The bike also has sharp tank extensions, which make the bike look quite sporty. Lastly, the small windscreen also makes its touring intentions clear.
The KTM 250 Adventure takes design inspiration from Dakar race bikes. It gets a tall windscreen and a high-set instrument console similar to a Dakar bike. The raised fender and the overall slim profile is similar to what we have seen on KTM ADVs, but the addition of alloy wheels has made it clear it is primarily meant for road riding.
The design philosophies of both motorcycles are quite different, and for those who are looking for rugged rally bike looks, the KTM 250 Adventure is the clear winner. For those who are looking for something a lot more futuristic, the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover might seem like the obvious choice.
Performance
The Ultraviolette X47 Crossover’s battery pack is mounted where a petrol bike’s engine usually sits. Most of the visual mass is centered around the battery pack, and it’s easily more attention-grabbing than the KTM 250 Adventure’s liquid-cooled engine.
The X47’s motor sits just behind the battery pack. It may not looks as massive as the KTM’s engine, but it packs a punch: 30kW power and 100Nm torque with a claimed top-speed of 145kmph. On the other hand, the KTM 250 Adventure’s 249.07cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine produces 31PS and 25Nm.
Underpinnings
The Ultraviolette X47 Crossover features an inverted fork, and a monoshock suspension setup. The inverted fork, in particular, looks quite premium with the gold finish in the red and black colour schemes. The KTM also has a similar setup, but with an offset monoshock. That said, the black finish on the fork feels a bit too plain comparatively.
Another major difference is the wheel sizes; the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover has 17-inch wheels at both ends. The KTM 250 Adventure has a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel combo. The Ultraviolette X47 Crossover with the smaller wheels seems more suited to road riding, but it looks a bit cooler than the KTM’s alloys as it gets a dual-tone finish.
Console And Switchgear
When it comes to features, there’s no beating the Ultraviolette X47 Crossover. The 5-inch TFT console looks and feels very premium, and has an easy-to-read layout. The bike also gets a rear-mounted radar, which offers collision, overtake and lane change alerts. Customers can also choose to get a dual-dashcam setup installed as well.
The KTM 250 Adventure’s TFT console with smartphone connectivity offers turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts and music controls..
The switchgear layout on the X47 takes some time to get used to. It also doesn’t look as premium as the one on the KTM 250 Adventure. Both bikes have dedicated buttons for menu navigation.
Verdict
The Ultraviolette X47 Crossover has managed to offer an interesting mix of technology and practicality all into a single package at an introductory price of Rs 2,49,000 (ex-showroom). Just like any Ultraviolette EV, this one also looks straight from the future, and nothing like anything else in the Indian market. On the other hand, the KTM 250 Adventure is priced at Rs 2,40,000 (ex-showroom) - a great value for money option as far as a performance and feature-packed quarter-litre adventure bike is concerned.
If you’re a technology enthusiast who wants a modern, green, touring-friendly bike with low running costs, then the X47 would make sense. Those who want a traditional petrol-powered motorcycle in a tried-and-tested ADV format, that too at a fairly accessible price point, then the KTM 250 Adventure is the one for you.

- Personal review of owning x47 for 9 monthsCompare the ICE bike this feel more similar feel and more over petrol issue, I had scooty it got damaged for E20 petrol so I don't want that engine issue for new bike. More over I saved 35000 in petrol for 8 months. That make feel happy, I never knew the daily commute cost charge it up and ride. So far in my journey with bike I travel almost 8000KM where dynamic are good no hardware level issue saved allmost 35k of petrol and I feel sometimes it consume more time for charging software issue are there, in this bike that issue I faced and accessories it placed in very expensive. You need for short travel and few long trip around 250km it can do it But it is hard for long ride for 350 plus in single day It charging u need boost charge it 40k, It make more expensive my conclusion you have short daily ride and company provide free charging in their showroom.Read More
- Ktm 250 adventureUpdate the KTM to measure because I wanted a lightweight that could handle both city rights, and we traps it offers good performance, comfortable economics and features for the price without feeling to intimidating. The bike is fun to ride and handle really well especially on twisted road the, suspension is decent but I wish the low and top was very strong in the city traffic or its been a satisfying experience well. Yes, it depends on your age. Its a great option for beginner and touring enthusiast.
