TVS Radeon Digi Disc Variant: Same Price, Other Options

Looking for an alternative to the TVS Radeon? Here are five options across different two-wheeler segments

The TVS Radeon Digi Disc variant is not the only option for buyers looking for an affordable two-wheeler for daily commutes. Alternatives in a similar price bracket include entry-level commuter motorcycles, a family scooter and an electric scooter, such as the Hero Passion Plus, Honda Livo and the VIDA VX2 Go 2.2. Here is a closer look at five options worth considering.

1. Hero Passion + - Rs 81,413

The Hero Passion Plus is a commuter motorcycle powered by a 97.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It produces 8.02PS at 8,000rpm and 8.05Nm at 6,000rpm, paired with a four-speed gearbox. The motorcycle gets Hero's i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) technology, which switches off the engine when the bike is idling and restarts it when the clutch is operated.

Hero's i3S technology is designed to reduce fuel consumption during stops in traffic. When the motorcycle remains stationary and idles under suitable conditions, the system switches off the engine. It restarts when the rider operates the clutch. The system can be particularly useful in stop-and-go traffic, where motorcycles often spend considerable time waiting at signals.

The Hero Passion Plus’ suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bike rides on alloy wheels fitted with 80/100-18 tubeless tyres at both ends. Braking duties are handled by drum brakes, with a 130mm unit at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear on the drum-brake variant. There is a front-disc variant of the Passion Plus available as well, which gets a 240mm front disc.

In terms of dimensions, the Hero Passion Plus has a wheelbase of 1,235mm, ground clearance of 168mm and a seat height of 790mm. The kerb weight is listed at 115kg for the drum-brake version, while the fuel tank has a capacity of 11 litres. The motorcycle gets an LCD console with Bluetooth connectivity. A USB charging port allows riders to charge mobile phones.

The Shine 100’s suspension setup consists of a telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Most durable in 110cc class.

Most durable and well built. But the Radeon has an advantage over it's rivals and that's the exhaust note with quite nice engine performance for a 110cc and looks are balance between style and practicality. Very economical over long term usage. Excellent for small business and load carrying capacity because of it's robust built quality. Cons: Breaking could be better. Seat foam hardens over time making it uncomfortable.Read More
