Custom shops across the world have used the XSR as their creative playgrounds for years. From apocalyptic builds to futuristic racers, these five modified Yamaha XSR155s will surely blow your mind:

1. K-Speed’s Apocalypse-ready XSR155

Thailand’s K-Speed has a knack for creating wild, post-apocalyptic machines, and their take on the XSR155 looks ready to survive anything. Almost every panel has been redesigned: a new fuel tank with mesh inserts, a custom subframe, and twin heat-wrapped underseat exhausts dominate the design. This rugged build also gets crash guards, auxiliary lamps, Brembo brakes, and spoke wheels with chunky Pirelli Scorpion Rally tyres. Finished with deliberate paint fading and raw metal touches, this “Mad Max”-style creation feels like it was built to conquer chaos itself.

2. Yasashii Garage’s Futuristic Scrambler

For Yamaha’s Yard Built event, Indonesia’s Yasashii Garage transformed the XSR155 into a futuristic scrambler straight out of a sci-fi movie. Hand-built aluminium panels replace the stock bodywork, while a flat LED headlight and sharp creases lend a robotic vibe. The highlight though, is its unique rear suspension - a horizontally mounted monoshock that runs parallel to the custom swingarm. Add to that a minimal single seat, underbelly exhaust, and rally-spec Pirelli tyres, and you get a perfect blend of retro soul and futuristic flair.

3. Deus’ “Aka-Tombo” Scrambler

Deus Ex Machina’s “Aka-Tombo” (Japanese for Red Dragonfly), reimagines the XSR155 as a rugged scrambler for the wild. Staying within Yamaha’s Yard Built rules, Indonesia-based Deus retained the chassis and engine but gave the rest a thorough overhaul.  The handcrafted stainless steel swingarm, raised USD fork, and 18-inch spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli rally rubber give the bike a contemporary look. Painted in a striking ‘Rally Red’ with silver accents, the bike exudes vintage energy. A SuperTrapp-branded exhaust, tan leather seat, and tracker-style handlebars make this one of the most refined but also at the same time raw XSR builds to date.

4. PapnMam’s Futuristic Flat Tracker

PapnMam Customs from Indonesia envisioned the XSR155 as a sleek flat-track weapon of the future. The signature circular headlamp has been replaced with a flip-up LED unit, while the one-to-two exhaust exits neatly under the seat. Its floating tail section, flat seat, bar-end mirrors, and aluminium finish lend it a factory prototype-like appeal. Small details such as winglets on the tank hint at aerodynamic intent. It’s a minimalist, clean, and purposeful take that modernises the XSR155 without losing its distinctive retro charm.

5. The Custom Café Racer

Last but not least, our favourite is this brushed-metal café racer. It proves how easily the XSR155 can go from classic to competition-ready. The low-slung clip-on handlebars, single-seat cowl, and rear-set footpegs deliver an aggressive racing posture. Chrome-spoked wheels, slick tyres, and petal discs with Brembo callipers serve as the perfect go-fast bits. Its fairing and chopped fenders allow it to stay true to the café racer ethos. With its raw metal finish and muscular stance, this build channels pure old-school racing charm into the XSR.
