Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India (HMSI)- the second largest two wheeler manufacturer in India registered 17 percent overall growth in November 2014. The company sold 3,72,036 units of two wheelers including domestic and export in the previous month, against the 3,19,082 units sold during the same period in 2013.
Domestic sales of the HMSI stood at 3,54,010 units in November 2014, recording a growth of 15.5 percent, compared to 3,06,476 unit sales of the corresponding month last year. Export market of the company grew by 43 percent with 18,026 units of the November 2014 against the 12,606 units of the same month of 2013.
In the domestic market, HMSI scooter sales seen a great hike of 32.6 percent, however, the motorcycle segment slipped by 4.1 percent. The motorcycle sales of the HMSI stood at 1,36,961 in the November 2014, while the sales figure of the scooter segment was 21,7,049 units during the same period. In November 2013, the company sold 1,42,797 units of motorcycles and 1,63,679 units of scooters in the domestic market.
The company is showing a great performance in every segment except the 150cc motorcycle category, which is not performing well from a while. However, the company is about to launch a new contender- CB Unicorn 160, which is expected to boost the sales in the respective category to record a positive motorcycle sales as well.
