Honda Motor Co. Ltd. has patented the design of a new 160cc bike in India, called the Honda CG 160. The bike is already being sold in Brazil with the name - Honda CG 160 Start.
The Honda CG 160 Start comes with a slightly sporty commuter bike-like design, and looks similar to the old CB Trigger. It gets a single-piece headlight, dual-tone fuel tank, a single-piece seat and sleek split grab-rail.
The Honda CG 160 is powered by a 162.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 14.6PS and 13.8Nm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It gets an LCD instrument console that shows a speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and other basic information. The bike has a USB-Type C charging port, but misses out on smartphone connectivity.
Underpinnings on the bike include a telescopic fork and dual rear shock absorbers. The bike uses a 240mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear with CBS (combined braking system). It comes fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres at both ends.
BikeDekho Says
Though Honda has patented the CG 160 in India, we don’t think it makes sense for the brand to launch it here. Because, the manufacturer already has the Honda Unicorn (Rs 1,19,481) as a regular commuter and the Honda SP 160 (starts at Rs 1,20,951) as a sportier option in the 160cc segment, with just a price difference of Rs 1,470 (ex-showroom) between them. Hence, it doesn’t make much sense to slot the CG 160 in Honda’s current two-wheeler line-up in India.
