Scooters manufactured between 14-25 February 2020 have been recalled

The fault lies in the bushing in the rear shock absorber of all three scooters. It is a 3-step preload-adjustable unit. The issue can be rectified for free at authorised dealerships.

Honda has announced a voluntary recall for the recently-launched Dio BS6, Activa 6G, as well as the Activa 125 BS6. The recall is due to a suspected quality issue in the bushing of the rear suspension, which, Honda says, may result in oil leakage or breakage and may lead to vehicle imbalance.

The scooters manufactured between 14-25 February 2020 have been affected and the recall is currently underway at authorised Honda dealerships across the country. To see if your scooter is affected, just enter the VIN in the Services>Campaign section of the brand’s official website. The brand has also started notifying customers via phone/e-mail. Honda recommends customers to book the service in advance to ensure a hassle-free experience.

Suspension components are pretty crucial in any vehicle, so it is advised to get the issue sorted at the earliest. After all, these components are engineered to take up the shock loads from the wheels while going over uneven roads to provide the user with smooth ride quality.

Interestingly, this is the second time the Activa 125 BS6 is facing issues. Last month, Honda issued a service campaign for the scooter over a faulty cooling fan cover. However, this issue isn’t as life-threatening as a faulty rear suspension.
