For Rs 10,000 extra, one of these e-scooters offer slightly better range, features and practicality

    Simple Wave vs Ather Konarc

Simple Energy recently launched the all-new Wave electric scooter in India. It is purely a practical, and family oriented scooter for the masses. Similarly, Ather Electric also launched the Konarc, a family-oriented e-scooter. Here is how these new electric scooters compete against each other:

    Design

Both of these scooters have a smooth and family friendly silhouette, but the Simple Wave has managed to look a bit more modern, and slightly youthful as well. It is available in 6 subtle, yet striking colour options: Amongst these, we prefer the Coral Red shade the most.

On the other hand, the Ather Konarc has taken the family scooter tag quite seriously and purely looks like one. Its design is slightly more conventional, but with some modern touches. It is available in 4 premium colour options:  Quartz White/Blue, Majestic Grey/Black, Celestial Gold/Blue, and Lumen Copper/Black

    Performance and Range

The Base 2.2 kWh variant of the Simple Wave gets a 4.5 kW motor. Its claimed range is 110 km and the claimed top speed is 70 kmph.

There are three riding modes on offer: Eco X, Eco and Ride.

The Base Konarc variant gets a slightly smaller 2.1 kWh battery pack, which powers a 4 kW motor. Its claimed range is 100 km, it can go from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.7 seconds (claimed), and the claimed top speed is 70 kmph (same as the Wave).

    Underpinnings

Both scooters use a steel tube frame, and conventional telescopic fork with a rear monoshock. But while the Wave runs on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends, the Konarc uses a larger 14-inch front, and a 12-inch rear wheel setup.

That said, the Wave gets the longest seat at 920 mm. Both scooters use a 220 mm front disc, and a rear drum brake setup with CBS (combined braking system).

    Features

Both of these all-new electric scooters come quite loaded with almost all the usable features. There are LCD consoles on both scooters, with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and SMS/call alerts. There is hill hold assist, and reverse mode on both, however the Wave also features a crawl mode which can be used while in heavy traffic conditions.

The biggest highlight of the Simple Wave is its large 70-litre underseat storage, while the Konarc gets a much smaller 31-litre underseat storage. Along with this, the Wave also features a convenient side panel storage which can be used to store smaller things.

    Simple Wave vs Ather Konarc

On paper the base variant of the Simple Wave does look quite promising. It gets better range, features, and overall practicality when compared to the Ather Konarc. However, the Wave is Rs 10,000 more expensive than the Konarc. For the added convenient and extra range paying this extra amount could make sense for some people, but overall both scooters are promising propositions.
