Aprilia Tuono 457 vs Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450: Detailed Comparison

Aprilia’s parallel-twin performance Vs Royal Enfield’s torquey single

Whether it’s about skipping a heartbeat with performance or turning heads with appearance, the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition and the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 both make quite strong cases in their own right. One is a scalpel on tarmac with a race-derived chassis, a high-revving parallel twin, and a sophisticated set of electronics. Meanwhile, the other one prioritises delivering an experience that's meant to be enjoyable first and impressive on paper second. Still, both being super impressive could make choosing between them a tall order. If you are also torn between the two, this detailed comparison is exactly for you.

  • The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 starts at a much more accessible price point, undercutting the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition by about Rs 1.5 lakh.
  • Even the top variant of the Guerrilla is around Rs 1.25 lakh more affordable than the Tuono.

  • The Tuono is available in only two colour options, while the Guerrilla comes in so many colours.

  • The Guerrilla also offers standard, more street-focused, and dual-sport-oriented avatars to suit a rider’s specific taste.

  • Aprilia offers a more impressive standard warranty of 4 years / 48,000km on the Tuono 457 Special Edition, while the Guerrilla 450 comes with a 3-year / 30,000km cover as standard.

  • Royal Enfield claws back some points with a more flexible extended warranty programme. At an additional cost, buyers can extend the standard coverage up to 7 years / 70,000km through one-, two-, or four-year plans. Even better, you can purchase the extended warranty anytime up to 10 days / 500km before the standard warranty expires.

  • Aprilia again makes up for it with 2 years of free roadside assistance (RSA) with the Tuono 457, while the Guerrilla 450 gets it as complimentary for 1 year.

  • The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition looks sharper, while the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 appears more intimidating in terms of size.
  • Lighter by about 9 kilos, the compactor Tuono feels more manageable on city streets, while the Guerrilla is the more approachable to get on with a 20mm shorter seat height.

  • Design is clearly the biggest difference between the two. Inspired by the legendary Aprilia Tuono 1000R, the Tuono 457 looks like a slightly scaled-down iteration of an authentic Italian naked superbike. The RE Guerrilla 450, meanwhile, do not stick to a straightforward approach. It looks like a flat tracker that takes some bits from classic roadsters and a few from motard machines.

  • The Special Edition Tuono 457 has a more contemporary appearance with a mean triple-LED headlamp cluster, masculine fuel tank, and sharp shrouds. Plus, its exposed twin-spar aluminium frame, wind deflector below the headlamp, and aerodynamic flyscreen further enhance its sporty appeal.

  • On the other hand, the Guerrilla blends modern and classic design cues with its round LED headlamp, a flat yet muscular fuel tank, premium metal body panels, tail-light-integrated indicators, and stylish multi-spoke alloy wheels. Its custom-style stubby metal exhaust and the fattest in-segment tyres add to its sportiness.

  • The Tuono also has a slightly larger fuel tank, offering better overall range with 2 litres of extra capacity.

  • Aprilia’s twin-spar aluminium frame doesn’t just look sporty, but also makes the Tuono 457 feel exceptionally rigid and responsive through corners. Built around a tubular steel frame, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 also offers reassuring stability, but is tuned more for balanced sportiness and everyday comfort than outright cornering performance.
  • The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition features a more premium suspension setup, offering preload adjustability and excellent dynamic handling. The Guerrilla, meanwhile, has a significantly longer suspension travel, making it more forgiving and capable on trails.

  • Both run on 17-inch alloys, but the Tuono gets a more premium set of rubber, giving that extra confidence while leaning into the corners. The Guerrilla, meanwhile, comes with some of the widest tyres in the segment.

  • The Aprilia clearly wins in the braking performance league with a slightly larger disc and 4-piston calliper up front. While the Guerrilla 450 has the advantage of a much larger rear brake disc, the overall braking feels a bit sharper on the Tuono 457.

  • Altogether, the Tuono 457 Special Edition is the motorcycle that stretches your grin wide every time you attack a corner or just ride spiritedly. The Guerrilla 450, meanwhile, takes a more versatile approach, earning the tag of a capable jack of all trades.

  • Both motorcycles feature full-LED lighting with their own unique bits. The Aprilia Tuono 457 features the legendary Tuono 1000R-inspired triple LED headlamp cluster. Meanwhile, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 gets an interesting rear setup, integrating the taillight in turn indicators.
  • A connected TFT display is common to both motorcycles. However, the Aprilia gets a larger, rectangular screen, while the Guerrilla gets a unique, circular display.

  • Royal Enfield is a step ahead in connected tech, offering Wifi connectivity and Google Maps on the dash for navigation. It also gets a Type-C USB charging port as standard, which is being offered as an option with the Tuono 457 Special Edition.

  • The Tuono, however, claws back the lead with a significantly more sophisticated set of rider-assistance electronics. It gets more riding modes that actually make a noticeable difference in the riding experience, and are adjustable even while riding. And then there is three-level Traction Control that can be fully deactivated, and a dual-mode Bosch ABS with switchable rear intervention to unlock that intentional slip mode.

  • Aprilia also offers optional bi-directional Quickshifter for clutchless shifting and TPMS at an additional cost.

  • While the Tuono 457 Special Edition is a clear winner in terms of performance tech, the Guerrilla gets a more practical set of features.

  • There is hardly a difference in capacities, but the character of their engines is worlds apart. The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition packs a sportier parallel-twin that loves to be revved hard, and that extra 7.6PS and 3.5Nm give it a better top-end as well. The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, meanwhile, counters with a stronger low-end torque, making it feel effortless and more tractable in everyday riding.
  • Both motorcycles get EFI with Ride-by-Wire tech for crisp throttle response, and both get assist & slipper clutch as well for slick, effortless gear shifting. The ratios of their six-speed gearboxes and final drive feel pretty different, though.

  • Overall, the Guerrilla, as its name suggests, is all about the raw low-end grunt that pulls cleanly from low revs and does not demand constant gear changes in traffic. On the other hand, the Aprilia’s parallel-twin is a super-refined technological gem that feels snappy and rewarding when you push it hard.

Verdict

The Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition and the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 are fundamentally different kinds of motorcycles. The Tuono brings a parallel-twin engine that sounds and feels unlike anything else at this price, a state-of-the-art aluminium twin-spar frame, more premium equipment, advanced electronics and an Italian identity that is hard to replicate. It is the more exotic, more performance-oriented and sharper machine that rewards riders who want to feel more engaged every time they open the throttle.

The Guerrilla 450, on the other hand, is the more affordable and practical choice. It also gets ample performance for your daily dose of fun, and its map navigation and USB charging port raise its convenience factor, too. It feels more accessible and better suited to Indian road conditions. Plus, Royal Enfield's extensive service network makes it easier to own and live with, whether you're commuting through the city or heading out for a weekend ride.

Ultimately, the choice comes down to your riding style. If carving corners and chasing the redline is your thing, go with the Tuono 457 Special Edition. If you want a versatile motorcycle that's equally happy on weekend getaways and the daily commute, pick the Guerrilla 450.

User Reviews

my guerrilla 450

I had to many optoins when it comes to mid range cc segment and goes for the budget and this stole my eye with the colours, the glare its has some charm that i wanted to hold and drive and honestly, its been great. Its been hell of a ride and i give it the best bike the enfield ever released the bike, I mean i'm not a guy who has issues with mileage or maintaince, but if you are it might be troublesome except that runs like a butter. Of course, if youre someone who wants to have a classic bike with power torque and i quote an indian brand cause i'm proud as hell while riding this beauty and beast, it gives butterflies not exaggerated.
