Same, same but different. One’s great for touring while the other’s great for roughing out in the wild

    2025 KTM 390 Adventure Vs 390 Adventure X

KTM India launched the 2025 390 Adventure range recently in India. The 390 Adventure X is the more affordable variant, priced at Rs 2,91,140, whereas the 390 Adventure is available for Rs 3,67,699 (both prices ex-showroom).

Both adventure bikes have a price difference of Rs 76,559. Both bikes are based on the same platform and share a lot of components and hardware. But there are significant differences between them that make them suitable for different terrain and needs. Let’s have a look at those similarities and differences in detail:

    What are the differences?

The KTM 390 Adventure X is equipped with a non-adjustable inverted fork and a pre-load adjustable monoshock. Whereas, the KTM 390 Adventure has a fully adjustable suspension setup at both ends. This makes the 390 Adventure more capable offroad with customisable suspension settings.

The 390 Adventure X has 100-section front and 130-section rear tubeless tyres, fitted on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloys. These are good for touring and also for riding in the city, because of smaller wheels and shorter turning radius.

Meanwhile, the 390 Adventure comes with 90-section front and 130-section rear tubeless tyres, and is equipped with bigger 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels. This setup is better for off-road rides and trails. The spoked wheels are easier to repair if the rim gets damaged and the narrower front tyre helps in navigating through bad roads and slush effortlessly.

The 390 ADV X has a 825mm seat height, 228mm ground clearance and 181kg kerb weight. On the other hand, the 390 ADV comes with a 182kg kerb weight (1kg more), seat height of 830mm (5mm higher) and 237mm ground clearance (9mm more) which contribute to better off-road capability. Additionally, the shorter seat height on the 390 Adventure X makes it easier for shorter riders to manoeuvre.

Shared Components on both the ADVs

Both the KTM 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X have the same 398.63cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder LC4C engine, which produces 46PS at 8,500rpm and 39Nm at 6,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch.

Both KTM bikes feature the same 5-inch TFT console with the same smartphone connectivity offering turn-by-turn navigation, music controls and call & SMS alerts. They get ride-by-wire throttle and a bi-directional quickshifter. The 390 Adventure additionally has cruise control, traction control, and 3 ride modes (Rain, Street and Off-road).

    BikeDekho Says

While the KTM 390 Adventure and 390 Adventure X come from the same platform, the 390 ADV is more leaned towards off-roading and the 390 ADV X is more of an off-road tourer which is easy to live with on a daily basis as well.

    KTM 390 Adventure

So, if you are looking for an all-rounder adventure bike, which can easily handle long rides, a bit of off-road and can easily be ridden on the city streets, then go for the 390 Adventure X. It is a great bike for someone who wants to own an ADV, but is not that much of a hardcore off-roader and mostly rides in the city and on the highways.

On the other hand, the KTM 390 Adventure is the perfect option for those who are more into off-roading as it is a proper off-road bike. It is taller, has bigger tubeless spoke wheels, and adjustable suspensions, which make it an amazingly off-road capable ADV. It performs equally well on the highway but will require more effort to ride and manoeuvre on the streets and in traffic.

      Ready to Adventure.
I also have a Duke, Adv has covered all the issues which I have faced on Duke when I use to go on long rides, Ride is also plush coupled with a great engine which proves itself on all grounds. Also it has a decent fuel efficiency considering its engine performance. Bike's comfortable its mileage is also good I get a decent range, but the engine won't feel as raw as BS4 duke, great electronics and safety. Just having engine oil consumption on higher side. Also the Trampler tyres give more life than Turanzas which came initially. Long hauling person should definitely buy this bike, long rides are so hassle free. And comfortable, also if you have to carry any luggage they have provided good anchoring points. Tieing a back pack or a duffle bag is easy.
