Just a week ago, Honda launched the Metropolitan scooter in the USA. The baby scooter looks quite charming in its retro garb and packs a basic kit that should make it well suited to zip around the city. Its round headlight and curvy design remind us of the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid. So, we’ve compared the two in detailed visuals and here’s what we found.
As mentioned earlier, both the scooters get a round headlight. But the Fascino 125 gets an LED unit with the top-end model whereas the Metropolitan uses a halogen bulb.

Honda has loaded the Metropolitan with a ton of chrome on the turn indicators, rear grab rail, mirrors and badging, whereas the Fascino 125 Fi uses a contrasting theme all around.
The Honda scooter is powered by a 49cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor whose output figures aren’t revealed yet. Meanwhile, the Yammie gets a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor with a silent starter and dishes out 8.2PS and 10.3Nm.
The Honda Metropolitan is equipped with an analogue console with a digital inset. On the other hand, you get a full LCD display on the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid while the disc brake variant also offers Bluetooth compatible smartphone connection.
Both scooters get a telescopic front fork and a single rear shock.
Braking hardware on the Honda scooter comprises drum units at both ends though the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid gets the choice of a 190mm front disc/130mm front drum with a 130mm rear drum brake.
The 2022 Honda Metropolitan rolls on 10-inch front and rear wheels while the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid gets a 12-inch front and a 10-inch rear alloy.
At 1181mm, the Metropolitan gets a noticeably shorter wheelbase than the Fascino’s 1280mm.
Not just that, it also weighs just 81kg, which is almost 18kg lighter than the Fascino 125 Fi’s 99kg claimed weight. But the Fascino is the lightest scooter in the segment.
However, its 4.5-litre fuel tank is a bit smaller than its rival’s 5.2-litre unit.
In the USA, the asking price for the 2022 Honda Metropolitan is set at USD 2,499 (roughly Rs 1.86 lakh). On the other hand, the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid retails at Rs 72,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards.
It’s crystal clear that the Fascino 125 is the winner as it not only costs less but also offers way more than the Honda Metropolitan in terms of performance, practicality and features.

It is one of the smoothest and most nimble handling scooters available in the market with a strong competition it offers a very good accessibility for new riders as well as the friendly nature makes it easy to ride in everyday traffic. the positive thing of this scooter is the handling, it is very easy to handle in heavy traffic, even with travelling a small amount of household goods, also the smoothness of the vehicle, negative points will be it has stiff suspension and under seat fuel filling system which cannot be accessible to the most. yes the bike can be recommended to a new rider or who wants overall comfort, mileage and easy going nature if the scooter, also one must consider the pricing, though it falls in a premium segment the features are comparatively less, but has very strong points to balance out.Read More
Good driving with pillion. Nice pickup power, must maintain periodically without fail or it will issue its mileage and performance. Good option for daily based and long rides without much shivering of handels in the road. Boot space is limited in the front area in of the disadvantages, otherwise it’s a good to go option.Read More
2025 January I have purchased this fascino 125 vehicle, very comfortable journey and nice experience while riding in this scooter but cost is little more expensive in my opinion. It would better if it can affordable at low budget. This is eco friendly vehicle. I have ride this vehicle almost 5,000 km very nice experience. I felt very easy to control, less weight easy to turn suddenly, good budget friendly vehicle, very smooth while riding no shaking or vibration. Yes, I will definitely recommend to my family, Relatives and friends. I'll constantly and frequently using this vehicle to my office and home and city commute, no worries it also good for long travel so no worries less maintenance charges.Read More
For Looks and spacious, because of the hybrid system , bluetooth connectivity, other scooter have classy but i selected for over all features, other scooters does not offers many features at that time. Engine get noisy within 300 km if we have habbit of sudden throttling and habit of rash driving so bike must be handled slow and gradual increase in throttle then we wont get any noise,it will settle after several km of slow and steady throttling, speedometer wire get become faulty 6 months once , scooter will accelerate itself after 6 month because of some fault in accelerator wire at fist it will 10 km/h then if we did not fix it with mechanic it will gradually increase and go upto 40 km/h when we start the bike its act a cruise control but we need do unwanted breaking and loss in mileage, breaks must be periodically tightened other it will become loose, I do not have experience with other bike hence this is my first bike I do not have any experience with other scooters so I do not have knowledge and experience to comment about this , bike have good pickup once we reached a speed of 40 to 60 km per hour then we can over take anything without any lag , but at first 40 km we will feel rubber band effect . the speed meter wire is not up to the mark.. every pot hole feels like you got into it and the front wheel touches the protector so it makes noise. the real world mileage for an average driver would come down to 50kmpl. Not suitable for heavy weight drivers. Take it only if you like the design. should consider other options before you take it.Read More
