The new model is compliant to BS-IV emission norms and gets many new features including LED positioning lamp and a mobile charging socket

Honda has launched the 2017 model of its popular moto scooter, the Dio, at Rs 49,132 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter’s design has been slightly tweaked and the new graphics further enhance its freshness. Apart from refreshed aesthetics, the scooter also gets new features and some mechanical updates.

The major visual update on the 2017 Honda Dio is an LED positioning lamp that has been incorporated on the handlebar cowl. The scooter also gets an all-new instrument panel that looks quite trendy and gels seamlessly with its edgy styling. It also receives a new, stylishly carved tail light that makes it more appealing from the rear. The company says that the seat of the scooter has also been widened for a more comfortable riding experience.

Powering the new Dio is the same 109cc, forced air-cooled, HET (Honda Eco Technology) engine that was doing duty on the previous version. However, the motor has been updated to meet the stringent BS-IV emission standards. It still continues to churn out 8PS of power and 8.9Nm of torque, which is delivered to the rear wheel using a V-matic (belt type) automatic transmission.

While retaining features like Combi Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer and a maintenance free battery, the scooter gets a bunch of new features, such as Automatic Headlamp On (AHO), tubeless tyres and a mobile charging socket. The scooter continues to run on the 10" steel plate wheels. Braking is handled by 130mm drum brakes at both the front and the rear ends. There is not any update in the suspension setup as well and it retains the same bottom-link type front suspension and a spring-loaded rear shock absorber.

Also, the 2017 Honda Dio has been made available in five attractive dual-tone colour options, namely Pearl Sports Yellow, Vibrant Orange, Sports Red, Matte Axis Grey Metallic and Candy Jazzy Blue. Talking about the competition, it rivals the Yamaha Ray series, TVS Scooty Zest and the Suzuki Let's.
