Yamaha R2 Prebookings Open Ahead Of Launch
There's also a contest for early customers

Yamaha R2 will launch on August 27, and has commenced prebookings on the brand’s website. Apart from that, Yamaha has announced that first 100 customers to prebook could get a chance to meet its MotoGP riders, Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo.
Now, if you are getting the itch to book the bike, here’s a quick rundown about the upcoming Yamaha R2.

It will be sold alongside the R15, and won’t replace it. It is expected to have a 200cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, based on the R15’s engine. Output could be around 25 PS and 20 Nm, and should be paired with a six-speed gearbox. Variable valve actuation (VVA) can be expected as well.
Its underpinnings should include a Deltabox frame, inverted fork, linked monoshock, 17-inch wheels, and disc brakes with both ends. Safety equipment should include dual-channel ABS, and switchable traction control. Features-list should have a TFT display with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and ride-by-wire throttle.
Now comes the big question - Price. We expect the Yamaha R2 to be priced at about Rs 2.15 lakh (ex-showroom), which should make it more expensive than the Yamaha R15 M (Rs 1.86 lakh to Rs 1.98 lakh), but less than its main rival, the KTM RC 200, which costs Rs 2.24 lakh (all ex-showroom). It will also rival the Hero Karizma 210 and the Bajaj RS 200.
