The media invite sent out is dated 4 October 2021

[UPDATE: TVS has launched its second 125cc scooter, called the Jupiter 125, with prices starting from Rs 73,400 (ex-showroom).]

TVS has sent out a media invite that teases the arrival of a new 125cc two-wheeler. The media ride event is dated October 4, 2021, which means the company could reveal the two-wheeler anytime this week. Since details are scarce, we can’t help but speculate.

TVS could go either way -- introduce a new scooter or a motorcycle. The former is more likely, though, since we already know that TVS has been thinking of entering the 125cc family scooter space, a segment currently ruled by the Suzuki Access 125 and the Honda Activa 125. We believe the upcoming offering will be called the Jupiter 125 as it’s only logical to promote its bestselling scooter.

All TVS needs is a new design language and perhaps better features. It could borrow the 124.8cc engine from the NTorq, which in its standard state of tune produces 9.38PS and 10.5Nm. It's the same motor that powers the entire NTorq range, except for the Race XP (that puts out 10.2PS and 10.8Nm). What could change is the gearing of the CVT to improve fuel efficiency.

However, the new offering could also be a commuter motorcycle. Last November, the company filed a trademark for the name ‘Retron’ suggesting that there could be a new motorcycle to rival the Bajaj Discover 125 and Hero Glamour. However, the company recently launched the Raider in the premium 125cc space, so introducing another product in the same segment is less likely.

That’s all there is to know as of now. TVS will hopefully clear the air in the coming weeks. So keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned to BikeDekho.
