TVS Star City Plus With Front Disc Brake Launched

The 2021 Edition is Rs 2,600 dearer than the drum brake-equipped variant

The 2021 Edition is Rs 2,600 dearer than the drum brake-equipped variant

  • The TVS Star City Plus now gets a front 240mm petal disc as an option.
  • Rest of the mechanicals are unchanged.
  • Available only in Black-Red dual-tone colour.

TVS recently teased a new variant of the Star City Plus, and just as we had predicted, the brand has introduced a front disc brake to the commuter motorcycle. Called the TVS Star City Plus 2021 Edition, it features a 240mm petal disc up front, similar to the Commuter Bike Of The Year variant of the TVS Radeon. The bike is priced at Rs 68,465 (ex-showroom Delhi), Rs 2,600 more than the front drum brake-equipped variant. TVS offers this model only in Black-Red dual-tone colour.

The front brake is linked to the rear 110mm drum with CBS for optimum safety. There are no other mechanical changes. It continues to be powered by a 109.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, generating 8.19PS at 7350rpm and 8.7Nm at 4500rpm. TVS claims the motor offers 15 percent better mileage than the BS4-compliant carbureted engine.

The rest of the underpinnings, including the telescopic front fork, twin 5-step preload-adjustable rear-shock absorbers, and the 17-inch wheels with tubeless tyres, are all the same. It was the first motorcycle in the 110cc segment to get a full-LED headlamp. Other notable features include a semi-digital instrument cluster and a USB charging port near the console.

The newly introduced variant competes against the Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear, Hero Passion Pro, and the Honda Livo. In related news, we swung our leg over TVS’ latest 2021 Apache RTR 200 4V. Check out what we think of the motorcycle.

Hello iam Aabid Hassan from Baramulla

I chose the bike because it was pocket friendly for me and full filled the criteria that i was looking for further the service stations were easily accessible for me. For the road conditions that i usually ride on its lightweight and smooth handling provided me a comfort which was better then other bikes of the segment. The ride was very good and comforting. I have been to a long ride around 200 kilometres away from my home to Sonmarg where for a long time the road was smooth but after I crossed Srinagar the road became bumpy but thanks to my bike the back pain came no where near which I had earlier experienced on my hero honda cbz. Yes absolutely. This bike is very good easily manageable in tragic which I usually ride in and if the road gets a bit off road it can carry you to your destination easily and safely. It's shockers are very good especially on the roads which are under construction. Read More
