TVS Ntorq 150 vs Yamaha Aerox 155: Top 5 Differences

TVS recently launched the all-new Ntorq 150 in the Indian market at a base price of Rs 1,19,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is a powerful and feature packed, sporty scooter and stands as a perfect competitor to the much more expensive Yamaha Aerox 155. Here is an image comparison between these two sporty scooters:

Design

Both of these scooters come with a different design language but both look sporty. TVS has kept the overall design of the new Ntorq 150 based on the already-popular Ntorq 125. To make it look fresher, the brand has given it a distinctive-looking front-end with a quad-LED projector headlight setup. The scooter also carries some sharp body panels which gives it an aggressive look. To complement these impressive looks, TVS has given the Ntorq 150 some striking new colour options: Stealth Silver, Racing Red, Nitro Green, and Turbo Blue 

The Yamaha Aerox 155 looks a lot bulkier than the Ntorq, thanks to its maxi-scooter type styling, and larger 14-inch alloy wheels. The Aerox 155 also gets an apron-mounted LED headlight and overall look inspired by sporty Yamaha motorcycles. At a glance, the Aerox 155 surely looks a lot aggressive and quite appealing. It also comes in some exciting, youth centric colour options: Metallic Black, Silver, Racing Blue, Ice Fluo Vermillion and Grey Vermillion.

Performance 

The new TVS Ntorq 150 comes with a 149.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 13.2PS and 14.2Nm. The engine has an engaging performance and likeable character; it is quite punchy and suits the sporty appeal of the Ntorq 150.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 gets a slightly bigger and powerful 154cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 15PS and 13.9Nm. This is the same engine as the R15, but makes slightly less power and torque figures. It has a  linear power delivery and feels best at higher rpm.

Underpinnings 

The TVS Ntorq 150 uses a steel tube frame along with conventional telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. There is a 220mm front petal disc and 130mm rear drum brake setup. The scooter runs on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends, with a 100-section front and a 110-section rear tyre. At 115kg (kerb), this scooter is 11kg lighter than the Aerox 155, while the ground clearance is 10mm more at 155mm.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 also uses a steel tube frame and conventional telescopic fork, with twin rear shock absorbers. It comes with a slightly bigger 230mm front disc and a similarly sized 130mm rear drum brake setup. The Aerox 155 gets bigger 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends with a much wider 110-section front tyre and a 140-section rear tyre. At 126kg (kerb), it weighs more than the Ntorq 150 and also gets slightly lower 145mm of ground clearance. 

Features 

In true TVS fashion, the Ntorq 150 comes absolutely loaded in terms of features. It gets all LED lights and a 5-inch TFT console which supports smartphone connectivity via TVS’ SmartXonnect application. It gets turn-by-turn navigation, SMS/call alerts, crash alert, live vehicle tracking, Alexa integration, smart watch connectivity, a 0 to 60kmph recorder, top-speed recorder, high-speed alert and more. Other than this, the Ntorq 150 also gets two ride modes: Road and Race. It is also quite convenient as it gets a 22-litre underseat storage and a 2-litre cubbyhole at the front. 

The Aerox 155 gets a negative-LCD console which supports smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-connect app.  It gets turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. The Aerox 155 does come with keyless ignition, which is a unique feature that even the Ntorq 150 misses out on. Also the Aerox gets a slightly bigger underseat storage at 24.5-litre. 

Price & Verdict 

All prices ex-showroom Delhi.

Both variants of the TVS Ntorq 150 are Rs 31,580 and Rs 24,890 more affordable than the Aerox 155. This is quite a significant amount of money when we consider that the Ntorq 150 is just slightly less powerful and still packs in a lot more features when compared to the Aerox 155. 

That said, if you still want a more powerful, maxi-scooter, , the Aerox 155 is not going to disappoint you. But if you want a tech-loaded, lightweight scooter then the Ntorq 150 is really hard to miss.
