A bit sceptical of putting your money on TVS’ first electric scooter? Well, here’s what else you could buy for the same amount

Mainstream manufacturers have started putting their faith in electric vehicles (EVs). The most recent brand to take the leap of faith is Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer TVS, with the iQube. At 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru), the scooter is on the pricier side. However, it offers an alternative to conventional ICE-powered two-wheelers while offering more features and lower maintenance costs. That said, if you’re still not convinced with TVS’ proposition and have Rs 1.15 lakh to spare, you could have a look at the following options around the same price.

Hero XPulse 200 BS4: 1.06 lakh

Adventure coursing through your veins? Well, it can’t get any better than the XPulse 200 at this price point. It’s light, packs a  decent amount of off-road kit and features. This includes spoked wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres, long-travel suspension, raised fenders, a tall windscreen and a Bluetooth-enabled digital instrument console. Having said that, if you put in an additional Rs 38,000 you can get the bike fitted with adjustable front and rear suspension, a taller seat, Maxxis rally-spec tyres and handlebar risers, all of which will take the XPulse 200’s capabilities to the next level. The bike’s biggest drawback though is its engine which lacks bottom and top-end grunt. Head here for more information.

Bajaj Chetak Premium Rs 1.15 lakh

Alternatively, you could take a look at the Bajaj Chetak. It’s the iconic Chetak reincarnated in EV form with much better features, looks, and quality standards that are unlike any other Bajaj we’ve ever seen before. The scooter offers a range of 95km on a single charge and a top speed capped at 60kmph. More than enough for your daily commutes, we’d say. Click here for more information.

Bajaj Pulsar 220F ABS (BS6): Rs 1.16 lakh

The iconic Pulsar 220F can also be had for just 1.16 lakh. Yes, it’s BS6-compliant, gets single-channel ABS as standard and retains its distinctive design.  In its BS6 guise, the 220cc, fuel-injected, air-cooled motor with oil cooler makes 20.39PS at 8500rpm. Its thrilling performance paired with comfortable yet sporty ergonomics make it a compelling proposition.

Suzuki Gixxer BS6: Rs 1.11 lakh

Suzuki recently updated its entire portfolio to comply with BS6 emission norms for a minor price hike. For just Rs 1.11 lakh, you can get your hands on the revamped Gixxer. It’s perfect for your daily commute, offers plenty of grunt for quick overtakes, and features that keep in line with today's trends. Read more about the bike here.

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6: Rs 1.24 lakh

Last up is the Apache RTR 200 4V BS6. Yes, you’ll have to put in an additional Rs 9,000 to get your hands on the bike but trust us, it’s worth it. The RTR 200 4V is easily the most sophisticated bike in its segment, offering features second to none like GTT (Glide Through Traffic), a slipper clutch, and much more. Besides, performance hasn’t taken a hit post the BS6 update. If you’d like to know more about the BS6 RTR 200 4V, click here.
