Looking for smoother downshifts? These bikes under Rs 3 lakh come with slipper clutches built in.

Top 5 Bikes With Slipper Clutch

When you downshift hard on a performance bike, the rear wheel can sometimes hop, or lose stability. That’s where slipper clutches, or, assist & slipper systems, come in. They let you back off the throttle smoothly without drama. In India, they’re still relatively rare in the mid-price segment. But here are five bikes under Rs 3 lakh that offer that extra control:

    TVS Apache RTR 200 4V 2Ch R-Mode - Rs 1,48,620

The Apache RTR 200 4V is the most affordable bike featuring a slipper clutch. For 2025, its 197.75cc oil-cooled, 4-valve engine makes 20.82PS at 9,000rpm and 17.25Nm at 7,250rpm, and is now updated to meet the latest OBD2B emission norms. TVS has also given it a sleek new projector headlamp flanked by the brand’s signature LED DRLs.

Carried over are features that riders love, including three ride modes (Urban, Sport, and Rain), twin-channel ABS, a slipper clutch, and adjustable brake and clutch levers. The styling remains sharp and aggressive with its muscular fuel tank, sporty graphics, and sleek LED lighting. The result is a bike that balances sporty character with enough everyday usability to handle city commutes with ease.

    Yamaha R15 V4M - Rs 1,84,307

The Yamaha R15 has always been a favorite for offering big-bike features at an accessible price, and the V4M takes it a step further with an assist and slipper clutch as standard. Power comes from a 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine making 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

    Yamaha R15 V4

Design-wise, it looks every bit a supersport with sharp fairings, twin LED headlamps, and an LED tail. Features include a colour TFT console, traction control, two ride modes (Street and Track), and a quickshifter for seamless upshifts. Thanks to the slipper clutch, downshifts are smoother and more controlled, making the R15 V4M a confidence-inspiring ride both on city streets and open stretches. Also, if you want to know the differences between the Yamaha R15 and the MT-15 Version 2.0, head out to our detailed differences explainer.

    KTM 200 Duke - Rs 1,91,324

Yes, it’s surprising, but the Duke 200 gets an assist & slipper clutch in India, which helps in smoother downshifts. The engine is a 199.5 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve DOHC making 25PS and 19.3Nm.

    KTM Duke 200

Its styling is sharp and streetfighter-like with minimal bodywork and aggressive looks, a steel trellis frame, LED lighting all around, and a full digital console. It's lightweight and torquey, making it fun in traffic but also livelier when you crack open the throttle. The presence of a slipper/assist clutch helps a lot during late braking or sporty downshifts, raising the control quotient.

    Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z - Rs 1,92,794

The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z is currently the most affordable 400cc motorcycle in India, making performance more accessible to a wider audience. It’s powered by a 373.3cc liquid-cooled, triple-spark engine that produces 42.37PS and 35Nm, giving it a strong balance of power and usability.

    2025 Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z

On the design front, it gets sporty streetfighter styling with a full LED headlight flanked by DRLs, a sharp tail section, and a muscular fuel tank. Bajaj positions it as a modern performance commuter, and the inclusion of a slipper clutch adds real value, offering smoother downshifts and more control during aggressive riding.

    TVS Apache RR 310 — Rs 2,77,999

The Apache RR 310 is TVS’ flagship sportbike under Rs 3 lakh, combining sharp looks with modern tech. It’s powered by a 312.12cc reverse-inclined single-cylinder engine that makes 38PS at 9,800rpm and 29Nm at 7,900rpm, tuned to deliver punchy performance that feels at home on both road and track.

TVS Apache RR 310 Sepang Blue Riding Shot

Along with its full-faired aerodynamic design and winglets, the RR 310 gets an assist and slipper clutch for smoother, confident downshifts. The feature list is extensive as well, comprising dual-channel ABS, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes, LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, traction control, and a quickshifter in higher trims. TVS also offers Dynamic and Dynamic Pro kits with ergonomic and mechanical upgrades designed for track use. It may not be the cheapest in this list, but if you’re looking for a complete sportbike package with rider aids baked in, the RR 310 is one of the most well-rounded options under Rs 3 lakh.

Slipper clutches were once reserved for high-end superbikes, designed to handle aggressive downshifts on powerful machines. Today, the same tech has trickled down to bikes under Rs 3 lakh, making smoother, safer, and more exciting rides an everyday reality for a lot more riders.

      r15 V4 Review
The r15 v4 has the old punch while handling the BS6 engine with good aerodynamics and aggressive seating position. Its very easy to reach 140+ with default setting while it was not made for the long drive push, we can try the limits where I've driven around 25,000km in the same bike as well. I love it as my soul.

      Ride Tested Rider Approved
To be frank the engine is so smooth compared with it's previous versions...no vibration till 90kmph and I have found the sweet spot at 80kmph. The highest speed which i have clocked on this bike is 130kmph on a national highway I do long and short rides frequently on this bike and I feel little pain on my palm and back on long rides because of little hard seat cushion but when it comes to a ride of upto 140kms no stress at all you can make it easily, and in love with it's bass of its sound. I'm a pure lover of riding bikes.. and I must must recommend this bike to the people who are in there 20's to 35's and are looking for there daily commute but in style, power, and most important efficiency then is the go for bike totally worth it.. The stance it has and the looks it grabs on the city roads are just wow
