Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 vs Gen 2: Differences Explained
The Gen 3 gets a bigger battery, more range, an upgraded motor, and better performance
Ola Electric recently launched the S1 Pro Gen 3 with a lot of updates over the Gen 2. While the design remains the same, this new version brings improvements in performance, efficiency, and features. Let us take a closer look at how the new model compares to the older generation.
Pricing
The Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 is priced between Rs 1,14,999 and Rs 1,34,999, depending on the battery variant. Meanwhile, the Gen 2 model was launched at Rs 1,39,999. Over time, variations occurred due to subsidies and price cuts and later the price became Rs 1,14,999 (all prices ex-showroom).
Battery
The Gen 2 Ola S1 Pro came with a single 4kWh battery pack option, offering a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 181km. The Gen 3 version introduces two battery options: a 4kWh variant with a 242km IDC range, and a more affordable 3kWh variant with 176km of range.

Both versions are powered by an 11kW mid-mounted motor, but the Gen 3 benefits from a 20% increase in peak power, according to Ola. The top speed has also been slightly improved, with the 4kWh Gen 3 variant reaching a claimed 125kmph compared to Gen 2’s 116kmph. Additionally, the company says that the Gen 3 scooter offers a more refined throttle response and better energy efficiency.
Design
The overall design remains the same between the two generations, retaining the futuristic and minimalistic look. However, Ola has introduced a total of five new colour options for the Gen 3: Porcelain White, Industrial Silver, Jet Black, Stellar Blue, and Midnight Blue.
Features
While both models come with a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display, the Gen 3 runs on the latest MoveOS 5, which was introduced alongside the launch of the Gen 3 platform. It adds new features like a smartwatch app, Smart Park, Road Trip mode, and live location sharing. The Gen 3 also benefits from an improved integrated Motor Control Unit (MCU) for better efficiency and range.
Underpinnings
The Gen 3 model improves braking with the addition of the single-channel ABS, a feature absent in Gen 2 model. Both versions come with disc brakes at both ends, but the Gen 3 also introduces the brand’s new patented ‘brake-by-wire’ technology. Ola says the suspension and frame have been slightly updated for better durability and handling.
BikeDekho Says
The Ola S1 Pro Gen 3 builds on the strengths of the Gen 2, while addressing key areas such as power, braking, and software capabilities. The addition of a more affordable 3kWh battery variant makes it accessible to more buyers. While the core appeal of the S1 Pro remains intact, these updates ensure that the Gen 3 version stays competitive in the electric scooter segment. We hope Ola has sorted out the hardware niggles and software issues with this new generation.
