Most Affordable Four-cylinder Motorbike Options In India

Performance, style, and that inline-4 soundtrack, without the premium tag. These are the bikes to watch

For most riders in India, an inline four-cylinder bike has always felt like a far-fetched dream, something only hardcore enthusiasts with deep pockets could afford. But the market is slowly changing. As the performance bike scene grows and purchasing power increases, a handful of four-cylinder machines are now within reach. But don’t mistake these bikes for everyday practical machines; they’re all about raw power, speed, and that signature four-cylinder whine.

If you want to get one for yourself this Diwali, here are 5 of the cheapest four-cylinder bikes in India:

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R - Rs 9,40,000

The Kawasaki ZX-4R is the cheapest four-cylinder bike in India. Sure, it’s expensive for a rather small 400cc bike, but for enthusiasts, it’s a rare and exciting proposition.

Its 399cc inline-4 engine may seem small at first, but it actually makes a whopping 77PS at 14,500rpm and 39Nm at 13,000rpm, with most of the power coming high up in the revs. And even though it’s compact, it still delivers that unmistakable four-cylinder howl. On the design front, it’s an unmistakable Ninja with sharp and aggressive lines, full LED lighting, a sporty fairing, and a 4.3-inch colour TFT console loaded with Bluetooth and app connectivity. You also get ride modes, traction control, gear position indicator, and even lap timer functions, making the ZX-4R feel every bit a scaled-down supersport.

Kawasaki Z900 - Rs 10,18,000

Next up is the Kawasaki Z900, one of India’s most popular sub-1000cc naked bikes money can buy, bringing the inline-four excitement to the streetfighter class. Inside its steel trellis frame lies a sweet 948cc inline-4 engine producing 124PS of power at 9,500rpm and 97.4Nm at 7,700rpm, giving it some serious punch while staying surprisingly manageable for daily use. It’s not surprising then that it’s the go-to bike for most enthusiasts in India. In terms of design, it’s sharp, aggressive, and compact to some extent, true to the Z family’s streetfighter DNA. What works against it, though, is a kerb weight of 213kg.

The Z900 gets a new compact full-LED headlight and tail-light, dual four-piston Nissin front calipers for stronger braking, and app-connected features via its Bluetooth-enabled TFT display. Add in tech like dual KQS quickshifter, electronic cruise control, and IMU-based ABS, and the Z900 feels every bit as advanced as it is powerful.

Honda CB650R - Rs 10,30,269

This gorgeous machine blends everyday usability with the thrill and power of a four-cylinder engine. What sets the Honda CB650R apart in this segment is its unique neo-retro design, paired with muscular tank shrouds, a distinct round LED headlamp, and minimalist bodywork that lend it a premium, European-inspired look rarely seen at this price bracket.

It packs a 649cc inline-4 cylinder engine making 95.1PS at 12,000rpm and 63Nm at 9,500rpm. The motor is known for its smoothness, refinement, and rev-happy nature, delivering performance in a way only a Honda can. For 2025, Honda has added an optional E-Clutch system, which lets riders take off and shift gears without ever touching the clutch lever – a massive boon in stop-and-go traffic or when you just want to focus on the ride. But for those purists, you can still use the conventional clutch lever for manual control or turn the system off completely.

On the feature front, the bike comes with LED lights all around, a digital display, and premium build quality. The CB650R may not be an outright supersport, but it offers just the right mix of city comfort and weekend fun, making it one of the most versatile inline-4s you can buy in India.

Honda CBR650R - Rs 11,16,127

The Honda CBR650R borrows the same four-cylinder heart from the CB650R but wraps it in sharp, fully faired sportbike styling. With dual LED headlights, aerodynamic bodywork for lower drag, and low-slung clip-ons, it looks every bit a baby Fireblade. We’d say, among mid-capacity sportbikes, it’s one of the most premium-looking machines you can buy.

Its 649cc inline-4 produces 95.1PS at 12,000rpm and 63Nm at 9,500rpm, delivering smooth yet thrilling performance all the way to redline. The engine is refined and flexible, making it just as happy cruising at city speeds as it is being wrung out on open roads. Like the CB650R, the 2025 model also offers Honda’s optional E-Clutch system, allowing clutch-free starts and gearshifts while still letting purists use the lever when they want.

Feature highlights include full LED lighting, a TFT display, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), and impeccable build quality. While it isn’t as extreme as litre-class superbikes, the CBR650R strikes a sweet spot for riders who want a sportbike that looks the part, sounds fantastic, and remains usable day to day.

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R - Rs 12,49,000

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is Kawasaki’s iconic middleweight supersport, and it looks every bit the part. With aggressive twin LED headlights, sharp aero fairings, and a racy stance, it carries the unmistakable design DNA of the Ninja family. It’s a bike built primarily for track days, with road presence to match its performance on weekend rides.

Power comes from a 636cc inline-4 engine producing 124PS (129PS with RAM air intake) at 13,000rpm and 69Nm at 11,000rpm, tuned to deliver a screaming top end while still offering usable mid-range grunt. That said, the engine is quite refined.

For 2025, the ZX-6R also comes equipped with electronics to support its performance. Feature highlights include riding modes, traction control, quickshifter, assist and slipper clutch, full LED lighting, and an updated TFT display with smartphone connectivity. Together, these make the ZX-6R not only thrilling but also forgiving enough for riders stepping into the supersport world.
