The popular Dio gets a worthy rival from Hero, and here's how the Xoom stacks up against the Japanese scooter in images

Hero has launched its first 110cc sporty scooter, Xoom, in India and here’s how it fares against the OG Indian sporty scooter, Honda Dio.

The Hero Xoom brings a fresh new look with a stylish and sporty design language which definitely stands out. Interestingly, it slightly resembles the Hero Vida V1 e-scooter particularly on the side panels and seat design. The projector LED headlight and cornering lights are quite a cool addition.

On the other hand, the Honda Dio has retained its evergreen sporty design which still looks pretty cool with the sharp styling. The snazzy colours and graphics on the Dio Sports make the scooter even more youthful.

Powering the Xoom is a 110.9cc engine as the Maestro Edge, one that makes 8.15PS and 8.7Nm. Dio gets a 109.51cc engine, making 7.76PS and 9Nm.

In the braking department Xoom gets a 190mm disc up front on the top variant with 130mm drum units on both ends on the lower variants. Dio gets only 130mm drums at both ends and no disc brake even as an option. Both scooters come with alloy wheels.

In terms of features, the Hero Xoom is much more premium with a fully digital console, smartphone connectivity, real-time mileage indicator, phone battery status and call/SMS alerts.

Dio, on the other hand, gets a simple digital console which displays real-time mileage, distance to empty & average mileage. It gets no smartphone connectivity.

While the Dio flaunts a bulky fascia with an LED headlight unit, the Xoom gets a sharper LED projector headlight along with LED DRLs.

Coming down to the prices, the Hero Xoom costs Rs 76,699 for the top ZX variant and the Dio Sports DLX is priced at Rs 74,626, both ex-showroom Delhi. So if you are looking for a more powerful and feature-packed 110cc sporty scooter, the Xoom is a pretty good option, at least on paper.
