The Hero Xoom 110 marks the entry of a sporty scooter into Hero MotoCorp’s lineup. Here’s how it performs in the real world:
Design
The Hero Xoom 110 has edgy and sharp design lines all over. The H-shaped LED DRL and the taillight design make the scooter appealing to look at. The aggressive styling along with the 12-inch wheels give it a commanding presence on the road.
Features
Features-wise, the Hero Xoom 110 is a bit of a letdown. The cornering lights are positioned too low, and aren’t bright enough, thus limiting their impact during corners or hairpins. It gets an LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and call and SMS alerts. Turn-by-turn navigation is a miss, though. Also, the apron-mounted cubby holes are left open, so knick-knacks may fall out when the scooter goes over bumps. Though the scooter gets a USB port (located under the central spine), its positioning on the apron could’ve been better for easier access. Moreover, in our test scooter, the i3S (Idle Stop Start System) wasn’t working consistently.
Riding Posture & Comfort
At 770mm, the seat is reasonably accessible. The front portion of the seat is also tapered, so even short riders can place their feet comfortably on the ground. Even the seat cushioning is comfortable enough for longer rides. While the suspension is on the firmer side, it isn’t too stiff. It can tackle most bad roads, with only very sharp bumps being felt.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
The Hero Xoom offers one of the best performance in the segment. In our 0-60kmph acceleration tests, it even managed to outperform some 125cc scooters. While the low-speed ride quality is a bit unrefined, the vibes even out as the scooter goes faster. What’s even more surprising is that even though it offers plenty of performance, the mileage of the Xoom 110 is not affected. In our real-world tests, it returned 50.65kmpl on the highway and 63.86kmpl in the city.
Handling & Ride Quality
At 109kg kerb, even though the Hero Xoom isn’t a light weight scooter, its weight is concentrated lower down. This along with the large 12-inch wheels and the fat 100-section rear tyre makes it easy to manoeuvre through the traffic and even go on twisty roads effortlessly. The brakes are powerful and offer good progression from the levers. This helps in judging distances better, and will also be confidence inspiring for newer riders as well.
Should you buy Hero Xoom 110
The Hero Xoom 110’s prices start from Rs 71,484, making it more affordable than the TVS Jupiter (Rs 73,340) and slightly more expensive than the Dio 110 (Rs 70,211, ex-showroom Delhi). The price point along with the peppy motor, good looks and handling abilities, the Hero Xoom 110 is a decent option to consider if you are looking for a sporty 110cc scooter.
