Hero Xoom 125

The 125cc sporty segment is quite niche. The scooters in the segment need to be fun-to-ride, handle well and be practical as well. Hero launched the Xoom 125 as the elder sibling of the Xoom 110 in the sporty scooter space. Priced quite competitively, the Hero company scooter offers decent performance, sporty looks and is practical enough for daily usage. That said, Hero has been late to this scooter party.

• The Hero Xoom 125, can definitely be regarded as a scooter with the most sporty and sharp looks.

• The body panels are brightly coloured and grab attention on the road with excellent road presence but the quality levels are average.

• The LED headlight has an aggressive design and it comes equipped with sequential indicators, first in the segment.

• The 14-inch alloy wheels at the front and the rear look quite elegant and give the bike a clean look.

• Also, the twin tail-lamps give the scooter a very distinctive look.

• Along with all these design elements, the scooter gets some of the best colour schemes that are quite eye-catchy.

• Our test scooter had the ‘Inferno Red’ colour scheme and it looked quite nice.

• The front floorboard is spacious and offers plenty of leg room.

• The scooter comes loaded with many decent features like an all-LED lighting setup, sequential indicators and a boot light too.

• The Xoom 125’s LCD console is well laid but looks quite old and out of place when compared to the scooter's design philosophy. 

• The Hero Xoom 125 does come equipped with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and turn-by-turn navigation but a TFT screen with a slightly larger size would have been better.

• The scooter also gets a USB charging port that adds to the convenience of the sporty scooter.

• The scooter gets a neutral riding position with upright handlebars, and a comfortable seat that gives zero troubles when riding.

• The front headlight cowl portion is sleek and doesn't distract the rider when riding around.

• The scooter’s seat is long and accommodates most types of riders quite comfortably.

• The seat is comfortable for the city commutes but will cause some problems while on longer rides.

• While the Xoom 125 is a substantial scooter, the underseat storage is a bit small.

• Additionally, the scooter has two compartments at the front (cubby holes) for added convenience with a charging port.

• The floorboard too, offers lots of space but will feel small if used for luggage.

• The Hero Xoom 125 shares its engine with the Desitini 125, and is quite punchy and smooth.

• The 125cc engine is refined and smooth while being thrilling to accelerate.

• The throttle is well-calibrated and responds to inputs without any jerk or lag.

• The scooter can accelerate till 70kmph quickly but beyond that the performance tapers off.

• The scooter can reach up to 85kmph, which is nice when considering the city commutes it is designed to make.

• That said, a bit more grunt would have been nice, making the scooter a more comfortable highway machine for those quick overtakes.

• One of the main highlights of the scooter–The 14-inch alloy wheels do offer good control.

• The tyres too, offer good grip and keep the scooter planted on the road.

• The scooter's kerb weight is manageable and most riders will not have a problem with it.

• The scooter gets a front disc brake that offers good bite and stopping power but a more modern ABS version of the scooter would have been more relevant to the buyers.

• As a bottom line safety feature, the scooter comes equipped with a combined braking system.

• The suspension setup is on the stiffer side and will work and feel better with a pillion onboard.

• Despite sacrificing comfort, the suspension gives a controlled ride and will feel stable even on the highway.

• The Hero Xoom 125 is definitely a good balance of practicality and sportiness, when compared with other scooters from its segment. It will appeal to sporty scooter riders.

• The scooter’s engine offers good performance and decent mileage on-par with its competition but a softer suspension setup and  a better instrument console could have made the Xoom 125 a more well-rounded package
