Hero eMaestro
Hero eMaestro Summary
Hero eMaestro Highlights: Hero MotorCorp has showcased the eMaestro electric scooter concept at the 2020 Hero World. It gets the Maestro Edge 110 scooter’s bodywork, suspension and wheels but could get a different frame to accommodate the electric motor and battery pack. The electric scooter is in the final stages of testing and can be launched by the mid-2020.
Hero eMaestro Price: Hero MotoCorp is known for pricing its products lower than the competition. We expected Hero to price the upcoming eMaestro electric scooter around Rs 1 lakh.
Hero eMaestro Features: While the eMaestro uses the Maestro Edge’s tail lamp assembly, it gets a new LED headlamp. Even the semi-digital instrument console has been replaced by a digital display. Other features include keyless ignition, reverse mode and cloud connectivity. The eMaestro manages to stand out from its petrol-powered cousin thanks to an all-white paint job and copper coloured wheels, front suspension and transmission cover.
Hero eMaestro Engine: Hero says the eMaestro gets a powerful permanent magnet motor and state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack. Other than this information the bikemaker has not revealed any specifications. Given that Hero MotoCorp owns a sizeable stake in Bangalore based electric start-up Ather Energy, we believe the eMaestro could use the Ather 450 X’s permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. For reference, the Ather 450X’s 6kW motor delivers 26Nm of torque while the battery pack offers a true range of 85km.
Hero eMaestro Suspension & Brakes: The eMaestro appears to use the Maestro Edge’s telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup along with the 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels. Braking too appears to be the same drum brake setup on both wheels. The frame could be different to accommodate the battery pack and electric motor.
Hero eMaestro Rivals: The upcoming Hero eMaestro would directly compete with other electric scooters such as the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.
