From commuters to other popular scooters, here’s what you can buy for the same price

Recently, the Hero Maestro Edge 110 BS6 was silently launched in India at a starting price of Rs 60,950 for the base variant and Rs 62,450 for the version with more premium-looking colour schemes and aesthetics. It is pretty competitively priced but if you’re looking for alternatives within the same price range, here are your options:

Hero Splendor Plus Price: Rs 60,500

The most affordable option in this list is also India’s highest-selling motorcycle, the Hero Splendor Plus. At a starting price of Rs 60,500 for the base variant, the Hero Splendor Plus is a reliable, no-nonsense commuter motorcycle that’s low on maintenance and high on fuel efficiency. If you’re looking for a little more convenience, then at Rs 62,800, you can get the self-start variant. The top-end version with the idle Stop-Start System (i3S) will set you back by Rs 64,010.

The bike is powered by a 97.2cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine, churning out 8.02PS at 8000rpm and 8.05Nm at 6000rpm. With a 785mm seat height and a light kerb weight of 112 kg, the motorcycle is easy to manoeuvre in the city too.

TVS Radeon Price: Rs 62,942

A little more money than the Hero Splendor Plus will get you the TVS Radeon Commuter Bike Of The Year Edition. It packs a proper 110cc air-cooled FI engine, which produces 8.19PS and 8.7Nm. TVS claims the BS6-compliant version offers 15 percent better mileage than the BS4 model. While the claimed figure itself is impressive, at 69.3kmpl for the BS4 Radeon, we got an incredible 100+ kmpl when ridden with a sensitive wrist!

The Commuter Bike Of The Year Edition comes with premium features such as tank pads, chrome highlights on the bodywork with chromed-out rearview mirrors, premium seat cover, and an optional front petal disc. The base variant of this edition costs Rs 62,942 whereas the front disc brake-equipped model will set you back by Rs 65,942. If you want a commuter motorcycle with a peppy engine without compromising on the mileage, the TVS Radeon is a great choice.

TVS Jupiter BS6 Price: Rs 63,602

The TVS Jupiter is one of the most popular 110cc scooters, and it isn’t surprising considering it is loaded with features and priced competitively, starting at Rs 63,602. The TVS Jupiter gets large 12-inch alloy wheels on both ends linked to a telescopic front fork and a gas-charged single shock absorber at the rear for supple ride quality.

It is also loaded with practical features such as an external fuel filler cap, 21-litres of underseat storage, apron-mounted optional USB charging port with cubby hole, and an LED headlamp. The 7.47PS/8.4Nm 109.7cc motor is claimed to offer 15 percent more mileage than the BS4 version. If you’re in the market for a practical, comfortable scooter, the TVS Jupiter BS6 is hard to ignore.

Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear Price: Rs 63,027

At a competitive price of Rs 63,027, the Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear is the only 110cc motorcycle with a proper 5-speed transmission. Its 115.45cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with electronic carburettor makes a healthy 8.6PS and 9.81Nm. Thanks to the 5-speed transmission, the bike is capable of hitting a claimed top speed of 90kmph.

The motorcycle also gets several comfort-enhancing features such as twin spring-on-spring Nitrox rear shock absorbers, telescopic front fork with generous 135mm travel, upright ergonomics, and a quilt-stitched wide seat. All in all, the Bajaj Platina 110 H-Gear is a good option for those looking for a feature-laden commuter motorcycle that can handle the highways as well.

Honda Activa 6G Price: Rs 65,419

The country’s best-selling two-wheeler, the Honda Activa 6G is also the most expensive offering in this list. But then again, for the premium, you get interesting features such as a silent starter, several friction-reduction technologies for optimum refinement, and a 10percent more fuel-efficient engine than the BS4 model. The Activa 6G also comes with a telescopic front fork with 12-inch wheel -- both firsts for a 110cc Activa. It even gets an external filler -- again, a first for an Activa -- for better convenience.

The new 109.51cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor makes 7.79PS and 8.79 Nm, which aren’t exactly segment-leading figures but it more than makes up with its incredible refinement. Overall, the Honda Activa 6G is good for those looking for a scooter with excellent refinement and sturdy build quality.

All prices ex-showroom Delhi.
