The 2021 TRK 502X has already been launched in Europe

It will command a premium of around Rs 40,000 over the BS6 TRK 502. Likely to keep the same feature set and engine as the BS6 TRK 502. The 502X will feature 19/17-inch spoked wheels shod with dual-purpose rubber.

With Benelli expanding its portfolio by launching the BS6 TRK 502 and the Leoncino 500 at staggering prices, next in line seems to be the BS6 TRK 502X. Our sources have revealed that the 502X is planned to be launched in India by end of March 2021, likely commanding a premium of around Rs 40,000 over the BS6 502. The road-biased TRK 502 currently retails at Rs 4,79,000 (ex-showroom). Interestingly, Benelli recently launched the 2021 TRK 502X in Europe.

The TRK 502X is basically an off-road-oriented TRK 502 with dual-purpose rubber and 19/17-inch spoke wheels. It will boast of the same styling with a tall stance, a protruding beak, and a big visor up front. Along with this, the BS6 502X is also expected to get an upswept exhaust unlike the underbelly unit on the 502.

It should also feature a revised instrument cluster and backlit switchgear, same as the BS6 502. Other bits like a new cast top rack, reinforced aluminium-frame knuckle guards, new handlebar grips, and redesigned rearview mirrors are also expected to be carried forward from the TRK 502.

Since the BS4 TRK 502 and the 502X used the same engines, the story is likely to remain the same in BS6 times too. For reference, the BS6 502 sports a cleaner 500cc, twin-cylinder motor belting out 47.5PS and 46Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It’ll be interesting to see if Benelli goes the extra mile and tweaks the 502X’s gearing for better off-road usage.

As for underpinnings, the 502X will probably use exactly the same setup as the 502, which comprises an adjustable 50mm USD fork, an adjustable monoshock, twin 320mm discs up front and a 260mm single rotor at the rear.

When it finally steps foot in India, the TRK 502X will sit right between affordable ADVs like the KTM 390 Adventure and the more powerful Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Storm 650XT.
