According to our sources, the limited edition variants are likely to be launched here in May

  • The Rocket 3 R Black and the Rocket 3 GT Triple Black get a fully blacked-out colour scheme.
  • Mechanicals have remained unchanged.
  • Likely to command a premium of around Rs 25,000-30,000 over the regular variants.

Triumph has taken the wraps off the Triumph Rocket 3 R Black and the Rocket 3 GT Triple Black limited edition bikes. Only 1,000 units of each will be made worldwide, and as per our sources, they will arrive here by May 2021. Expect these special variants to command a premium of about Rs 25,000-30,000 over the standard models. The Rocket 3 R retails at Rs 18,50,000 and the Rocket 3 GT at Rs 18,90,000 (both, ex-showroom India). In the UK, these special edition bikes will reach dealerships in mid-April 2021.

As the names suggest, the bikes have gone full Batman-mode with a completely blacked-out colour scheme. The chassis, bodywork, powertrain, footpegs, levers, headlights, handlebars, rear-view mirrors - everything is blacked out. The Rocket 3 GT’s adjustable cushioned backrest is also black and the flyscreen gets a black tint too. This variant also gets a unique three-shade black finish on the fuel tank, hence, the name Triple Black. Both bikes come with a carbon-fibre front fender for an added dose of sportiness. Triumph says each bike comes with a personalised certificate of authenticity.

All said and done, the changes are merely cosmetic. That’s not necessarily a bad thing as the bike is already pretty extreme when it comes to its capabilities. The 2,458cc inline-triple engine is the largest production motorcycle engine in the world. It churns out an earth-twisting 221Nm of torque and an equally incredible 167PS of power! You can go gaga over the detailed specifications of the motorcycle here.

A bike as extreme as the Rocket 3 has no natural rivals. However, the upcoming Ducati Diavel 1260 BS6 will be a good alternative. In related news, Triumph is also working on an electric motorcycle. Take a look at our analysis on what to expect
