Updated Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Launch Soon: What To Expect

It’s already known that Royal Enfield is developing a new 750cc parallel-twin engine, which will first be seen on the upcoming Continental GT 750 later this year. However, according to a recent report this new bike will not replace the existing Royal Enfield Continental GT 650.

Instead, both bikes will be sold together. The Continental GT 650 is Royal Enfield’s one of the most popular motorcycles, and has also helped the brand attract younger riders. Also, it is evident from the recent spy shots that the upcoming Continental GT 750 will sit at a more premium level and will be aimed at a different set of buyers.

Keeping the GT 650 will give Royal Enfield a distinct cost advantage as the upcoming GT 750 will be more expensive. Also it's high time that the GT 650 got a set of meaningful updates. In fact it is reported that this refreshed version is expected to be launched this year itself, after the GT 750 goes on sale (likely towards the end of the year). The update is expected to be more than just new paint options. 

To this end we can expect the Continental GT 650 to get LED indicators and tail light. The tripper navigation pod has been long due on the Interceptor and Continental, so expect Royal Enfield to finally give this feature on the upcoming version of the GT 650. Additionally, the updated model could also receive a basic traction control system, adding an extra layer of safety.

At present, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is available in five colour options, with a choice of spoke or alloy wheels depending on the variant. Prices start from Rs 3.53 lakh, and go up to Rs 3.82 lakh, with the Mr Clean chrome version sitting at the top (all prices ex-showroom, Chennai). With the upcoming updates, the bike is expected to see a price increase of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000. This new version is likely to debut in Motorverse, December 2026.
