Engine And Performance Talk

The Himalayan 440 is powered by the same 443cc single-cylinder engine as the Scram 440. The engine produces 25.4PS and 34Nm, and comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The motor is tuned more towards usable low- and mid-range performance rather than outright speed, which should suit the Himalayan 440’s adventure-focused character. It should also make the motorcycle capable of handling everyday commuting as well as highway touring and light off-road riding. While the 6-speed gearbox should give it better highway performance.
Details You Shouldn’t Miss: Features And Hardware
-
LED headlight
-
LED tail-light
-
Analogue speedometer with digital inset
-
Tripper Navigation Pod for turn-by-turn navigation
-
Dual channel ABS
The Himalayan 440 retains a simple and functional approach, with the focus being on usability rather than an excessive list of electronic features. However it still gets turn-by-turn navigation and dual channel ABS.
Underpinnings

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 gets a conventional telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. It rides on a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel spoke wheel setup with tubed tyres, giving it the right proportions for an adventure motorcycle. It gets long-travel suspension at both ends with 200 mm front and 180 mm rear wheel travel.
Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends, while dual channel ABS is offered as standard. The motorcycle also gets a 90-section front and a 120-section rear dual purpose tyres, which should help it tackle broken roads and mild trails with confidence.
BikeDekho Says
The Himalayan 440 looks like an interesting addition to Royal Enfield’s adventure motorcycle lineup. It combines the familiar, rugged Himalayan design with the more powerful and capable 443cc engine.
At Rs 2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), it could make a lot of sense for riders looking for a simple, capable ADV without spending Himalayan 450 money. However, the final verdict will depend heavily on how the overall package feels in real-world riding conditions. As of now, the Himalayan 440 competes with the TVS Apache RTX 300, Suzuki V-Strom SX, and Yezdi Adventure.
