Colours

The Yamaha R2 is available in 5 attractive colour options:

Colour

Description

Metallic Black

The Metallic Black colour gives the bike a stealthy look, ideal for someone who does not like a lot of attention.

Dark Bluish Gray

The dark grey shade gives the bike a more premium and mature look. It also gets red accents on the wheels, which add to its sporty nature.

Racing Blue (R2 Quickshifter)

This is Yamaha’s signature blue shade, and combined with the bike’s black underpinnings, it gives the bike a proper sporty look.

Matte White Pearl (R2 Quickshifter)

The white colour, along with red graphics, gives the bike a sharper and more eye-catching look.

Metallic Gray (R2 M)

This is an exclusive grey shade for the top-spec R2 M. It gets a mix of grey and black panels along with blue wheels for a premium and sporty look.

Features

The Yamaha R2 comes with a 5-inch TFT console as standard. It gets Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alerts. The bike also gets 3 riding modes: Street, Sport, and Rain. The R2 M also gets adjustable levers along with a Smart Key, which enables keyless ignition. In terms of safety features, the R2 gets dual-channel ABS as standard, along with traction control. Another convenience feature which is standard across all variants is adjustable rider footpegs, something which no other bike in this segment offers.

Engine and Gearbox

The Yamaha R2 is powered by an all-new 204cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 26.5 PS and 19.1 Nm; however, unlike the R15, it misses out on VVA (Variable Valve Actuation). The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quickshifter on the mid and top variant. It also gets a slip-and-assist clutch for lighter clutch action and smoother downshifts.

Underpinnings

The Yamaha R2 gets a new diamond-type frame with a KYB inverted fork and a monoshock, along with disc brakes at both ends and 17-inch alloy wheels. The R2 M also gets preload-adjustable suspension at both ends.

Rivals

The KTM RC 200 is the closest rival to the Yamaha R2 and offers a similar aggressive, track-focused nature. It also gets an engine character similar to the R2 along with premium hardware, making it a good choice for riders who prioritise sporty riding.

The Hero Karizma XMR offers a more comfortable take on the fully faired motorcycle, while still having enough performance for your weekend rides. It could be the better choice for someone who wants a sportbike that is easy to live with on a daily basis.

The Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is the more affordable option and makes a strong case for buyers who want a fully faired motorcycle with similar performance to the R2 without spending as much.
