Yamaha has just started deliveries of the recently launched XSR155, with bookings starting at a token amount of Rs 2,000. A customer has taken delivery of his bike in Delhi, and we expect deliveries to start in more cities soon, in a phased manner. If you’ve booked the bike, you can get it delivered without having to wait for too long as it is a new model. However, Yamaha has stated that in some cases, there may be a waiting time of up to 45 days.
The Yamaha XSR155 is currently the most affordable retro roadster in India, with a liquid-cooled engine starting at a price of Rs 1,49,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is offered in 4 colours: Metallic Blue, Greyish Green Metallic, Vivid Red, and Metallic Grey. The brand is also offering two interesting accessory kits for the bike as well - a scrambler theme kit and a cafe racer theme kit. The XSR155 is also quite popular internationally, as it is a really good platform for modification.
The bike is powered by the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Yamaha MT-15 and the Yamaha R15 V4, but even with the same engine they coudn't be more different. The motor is E20 fuel-compatible, and produces 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. The bike gets an inverted fork and monoshock suspension setup, and rolls on 17-inch alloys at both ends with MRF street tyres (radial at the rear for more flexible sidewalls - ensures better cornering).
The XSR155 goes up against the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, and we had recently compared the two to see which one is better specification-wise. I choose this bike because of performance and mileage. Everything is perfect in the bike and the look and design is really awesome. It looks like a racer bike. This bike suit me a lot because I am 5.6. The performance of this bike is really awesome. Wanted a low cc but stylish and retro motorcycle and here XSR became by my favourite. It can be easily maneuver in city traffics so that you don't have to be struggle to drive. Light weight as well. Gets you great mileage of around 45 plus. The riding posture is aggressive and yes, you can feel the ride and that's what actually matters. The seat is quite hard but instead of replacing it you can have a s seat cover of 400 rupees which would make it but softer. If you want entry level retro bike or kind of new into riding culture have it, feel it and then eventually according to your needs upgrade. Engine reliability is very good, reviews from the international audience suggests, the neo retro design looks damn good on roads. I've got so many compliments over the looks. Performance is insane too. The ride can be difficult to get used to at first but it gets better with time. The engine is super powerful and vibrations are very less. You can feel the power as you drive. The bike is pretty light and agile. And as you rev beyond 7k RPM, the VVA kicks in and the experience just get drastically better. I highly recommend this bike.
