TVS Orbiter Long-Term Introduction: An Electrifying Change

Loads of savings, good ride quality, but a major hurdle…

I love fast bikes. I like speed, I like the sensation of the wind brushing against the back of my neck as I am chasing down tarmac for revenge. Hence, when I was handed the keys to an electric scooter, that too a rather sedate low-cost runabout, I thought the seniors were playing some form of practical joke on me. You see, the office is nearly 30 km away from home, which means a 60 km daily commute. That's one of the biggest reasons I bought a KTM 390 Adventure X in the first place. My long commute, our unpredictable Indian roads and my 6-foot frame demanded something comfortable. But after spending over a month with the TVS Orbiter, my perspective has changed quite a bit.

Life In The Slow Lane

There were two clear-cut ways for me to reach the office:

  • Take the shorter but more chaotic route through the heart of Pune city and exhaust myself.

  • Take the slightly longer route through the outskirts that, while it doesn’t really save much time, I have a bit of sanity left.

  • On my 390 Adventure, the second option made a lot of sense. Hence, when I took the Orbiter on the same route, it felt out of place. On the fast highway stretch, I have to stick to the slow lane, something I have never done. Overtaking slower two-wheelers in such scenarios is even more challenging. And don’t even get me started on the days when the erratic Pune rains wreaked havoc.

Instead of trying to force the scooter into an environment it wasn't built for, I started exploring alternate routes for my commute. Not that Option A was becoming a default but roads I had never bothered taking before suddenly became my everyday route. Surprisingly, the slower pace made my daily ride a lot less stressful than I expected.

Range Anxiety Is Real, At First

I'll admit it, I used to find it confusing when EV buyers constantly worried about their remaining range. Then I started living with one and understood exactly why preparation is key with electrics.

The Orbiter displays an indicated range of over 100 km in City mode, but riding close to its top speed (i.e. 68 kmph) brings the real-world figure down to around 90 km. With my daily commute adding up to roughly 60 km, charging every single day quickly became part of my routine.

The first week was filled with constantly checking the battery percentage and calculating whether I'd comfortably make it home. But over time, that anxiety slowly faded away. Once I understood how the scooter behaved and planned my charging accordingly, it simply became another part of owning the vehicle.

Not Missing My ADV As Much

If there's one area where the Orbiter has genuinely impressed me, it's the ride quality.

Indian roads are never kind, and I wasn't sure how much punishment this not-so-little scooter could handle. But week after week, it has shrugged off potholes, broken roads and speed-breakers with surprising confidence. The suspension does an excellent job of soaking up rough surfaces, making my long commute far less tiring than I had expected.

In many ways, it reminded me why I enjoy riding adventure motorcycles so much. While the Orbiter obviously isn't one, the confidence it gives you over poor roads feels surprisingly familiar.

    What's Next?

Over a month in, the Orbiter has already challenged many of my assumptions about living with an electric two-wheeler. Now I'm looking forward to finding out how practical it is beyond my daily commute. I want to explore how much India's charging infrastructure has improved, discover more commute-friendly routes, see how it copes with Pune's heavy monsoon rains, and ultimately understand whether living with an EV can really be as hassle-free as its owners claim.

Go for it , It's a good bike

Good pickup, stylish design as the colour combination looks futuristic. TVS is a big brand, so service is very good and easy to find. Built quality is also one of the good reason to pickup this bike. It gives great experience. The range is a big concern while going to college. Except that, everything is very good like the pickup while overtaking vehicles, durability during pot-holes and a suspension works good. Yes, If you are looking for good service, take a look of this, may be the price and range doesn't match but the service and experience is very good. So I recommend this bike for short range travellers who don't want ot take risk.Read More

    My Orbitor experience

I just wanted to reduce my fuel cost which was about Rs.2500-3000 per month, Navigation feature of this machine as I can track my son's position while he is driving. Its suspension gives the great comfort ride. I have riding Orbitor almost 1000Km in one month, its cruise mode is good, because of accelerator sometimes hand suffer a lot but cruise mode make rides really easy specially on highway. CITY mode is powerful but quick battery consumer. Yes, I have recommended many of my friends, one of my friend daily travel around 100km range and I told him to buy this as it will cut down his fuel cost. Moreover, now we need to shift in green because of harm to environment. Read More

ORBITER - The Best scooter to buy in 2026.

Motor and looks are very impressive. This is my first electric scooter and I am very much satisfied. Got a good assistance from showroom as well. Scooter ride is very smooth and tyre size looks good as well. Ride is very impressive till today, I took v1 version and sometimes facing problem with range of I have to ride for long. Handling is very impressive and colours combination is very funky. Love this bike till now. Yes I will definitely recommend this scooter looking at the price bucket and the features. A big competitors of rizta and I think this would be on the higher side to that. Better go for version V2 for better range.Read More

This bike is from a highly reputed brand which is the main reason for it to be choosen. Secondly, I have also bought TVS IQube earlier so I came back, And best part is the mobile charging slot nearby. Highly comfortable and smooth ride with perfect speed hold and pickup as required. Felt like in air with no jerks or bumps. Very easy handling and can be fixed by anyone easily without any complexity. Highly recommended as it is highly price effective and nature efficient also.
