TVS recently went green with its 4V Apaches, making them BS6-compliant well ahead of the April 2020 deadline. The addition of fuel-injection has meant a slight price hike for the Apache RTR 160 4V taking its cost to Rs 1,03,000 for the rear disc brake variant. The engine output has also reduced marginally and now stands at 16.02PS and 14.12Nm. But if the RTR isn’t quite your cup of tea, here are 5 other motorcycles you could pick up for almost the same price:
Bajaj Avenger Street/Cruise 220
If highway cruising is your priority, you can get yourself either variant of Bajaj’s Avenger 220 for Rs 1,05,088. This raked-out cruiser is powered by the 220cc motor from the Pulsar 220F, producing 19.03PS and 17.5Nm.
The Cruise variant is better suited to long-distance duties with its large front screen and wire-spoke wheels, while the alloy-wheeled Street version is happier in urban conditions. Both bikes get LED DRLs and single-channel ABS, but the Cruise variant also gets a fully digital instrument cluster. The telescopic fork, twin-shock setup is tuned to offer optimum comfort.
Yamaha FZS-Fi
One of the RTR 160 4V’s biggest competitors is the Yamaha FZS-Fi -- a bike that has also been recently updated to comply with BS6 norms. This new version will set you back by Rs 1,02,700, just a few hundred rupees less than the RTR.
Its 149cc motor is down on displacement compared to the RTR, so output stands at just 12.4PS and 13.6Nm. But this motor’s strong suit is tractability refinement -- the excellent NVH levels and bottom-end grunt make it a great urban commuter. It also gets an LED headlight, fully digital instrument cluster, and single-channel ABS.
Honda CB Hornet 160R
Honda’s naked streetfighter offering in this segment is the CB Hornet 160R, priced at Rs 95,542 for the ABS DLX variant. This sporty-looking motorcycle gets a sharp LED headlight, fully digital instrumentation, and the signature X-shaped tail-light that has become so popular with time.
Its 162.71cc displacement is slightly higher than the Apache’s and it is only BS4-compliant, but it is still less powerful than the TVS at 15.09PS. Torque, though, at 14.5Nm, is slightly higher than the RTR’s. That being said, this is a Honda so smoothness and reliability are guaranteed.
Suzuki Gixxer
One of the bestselling models in this segment is the Suzuki Gixxer at Rs 1,05,000. This butch streetfighter was updated earlier this year with fresh styling, LED lighting, and a new fully digital instrument cluster.
Its 2 valve 155cc motor puts out 14.1PS and 14Nm, making it slightly less powerful than the Apache. However, the Gixxer is known for its sharp handling and entertainment value. It is suspended on a 41mm conventional fork and preload-adjustable monoshock. Single-channel ABS is also standard.
Hero XPulse 200 Fi
If you want your adventures to continue even when the road ends, the Hero XPulse 200 Fi makes a strong case for itself. India’s most affordable ‘adventure’ bike is priced at Rs 1,05,000 for the fuel-injected variant. The 199.6cc motor produces 18.4PS and 17.1Nm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The long-travel suspension and 220mm ground clearance means the XPulse can tackle the harshest of conditions with ease. It also gets an LED headlight, fully digital instrumentation with Bluetooth connectivity, and single-channel ABS.

Apache RTR 4v black is quite good bike as compared to other brand. This bike offer 17 bhp and 15 nm torque which is quite fast coming to looks. It looks like naked super bike with red black colour combination. It offer three riding mode with tft display and abs braking which is single only with better mileage in this segment. Read More
I chose the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V TFT USD model mainly for its sporty design, features and strong road presence. The bike feels very stable on highways and comfortable for daily city rides. Handling is sharp and confidence inspiring. It is also good for family usage when riding normally. Overall the build quality, braking and features like TFT display make the bike feel premium in this segment. Ride quality so far has been very good. The Apache RTR 160 4V TFT USD has excellent handling and stability. In highways the bike feels planted and smooth even at higher speeds. Braking performance and suspension are also good for most road conditions. But the biggest downside for me is the city mileage. In city I am getting around 28 to 32 kmpl, which is lower than expected for a 160cc bike. If someone wants good performance, sporty design, great handling and modern features, the Apache RTR 160 4V TFT USD is a very good choice. However mileage is the only reason I hesitate to recommend it to everyone. Competitors like Pulsar N160 give better mileage in city conditions. So if mileage is your main priority you may consider other options, but apart from that the bike is really enjoyable to ride.Read More

According to online review it's the best bike in the segment. I reviewed other bikes in the segment and everybody has their pros and cons but this is the overall best friend and it has been running on the roads were years that's why. Very punchy and comfortable. It's very manuvareble in traffic and the blood through technology is very helpful in the driving also when it comes to I wait as a very good performance. Mileage is pretty good. Yes to anyone in this segment. Even even has an interesting 160 CC segment this is the best way to go for according to me as it as too much features for the price range and it is very much good for this age group.Read More
