Best Bikes For Mileage In 2025: Save A Lot Of Petrol Money With These 5 Bikes!
Apart from household names like the Splendor and Star City, there are a few surprising names on this list too

Ours is a price sensitive market so buying a bike is not just about its ex-showroom or on-road price. The masses aren’t just impressed by a low on-road price, for they need a bike that’s cheap to run in the long run as well. And what mainly includes the bike’s mileage. ‘Kitna deti hai?’ might be a joke online but it still truly is the first question many potential buyers ask before making a buying decision.
And if you’ve been looking for a bike that will be light on the pocket, here we have 5 of them. So let’s quickly dive dive deep into a list that’ll not only impress you but also your parents:
Yamaha FZ-S V4 - 70kmpl
A brand name that once stood for a bike that was exciting and yet affordable, is now attached to a bike that delivers excellent mileage. And while many of the enthusiasts lament that change, the pragmatic buyers can’t help but see the FZ for what it is: good looking, inexpensive and very frugal. Even with its 149cc engine, which is the largest among the bikes on this list, the FZ returns excellent mileage numbers. And that has to do with the fact that it is light and has an extremely mild engine.

The Yamaha FZS-Fi V4 is now a slow, gentle bike and while it’s nowhere close to being exciting, the upside is that fuel economy figure you saw above. So if you want a bike that looks pretty good, feels premium but is mild to ride, something that’s easy to ride around town and occasionally take your parents around, the Yamaha FZ can be a pretty good choice in its segment.
TVS Radeon - 73kmpl
The TVS Radeon is our favourite 110cc bike on sale in India and it’s for a reason. Firstly, it ticks all the boxes that a 110cc bike should: it’s spacious, supremely comfortable, is inexpensive to buy and returns excellent mileage. In fact, we have a Radeon owner in the BikeDekho team too and he has gotten as much as 100kmpl from his Radeon, of course with a very gentle right hand. If you like taking it easy, you too could see your mileage touch the three figure mark.

But apart from all of that, the Radeon also has something that pleases the enthusiasts. The bike has a deep exhaust note that’s lovely to hear even as you just gently ride in the city. And then there’s the handling. Being a light, nimble bike, the Radeon feels weightless and it’s a lot of fun to flick it here and there and filter through traffic on it. The long seat is quite comfortable as well.
Hero Xtreme 125R - 81kmpl
When we were done testing the Hero Xtreme 125R, the mileage figure had us all boggled. We rechecked the calculations but as it turns out, the Xtreme 125R truly is very, very fuel efficient. And that’s despite it being a sporty bike that makes us enthusiasts happy. So it’s fun to ride and frugal…that’s a win win!

But then, it’s a Hero. And if any brand in India knows how to make bikes that give excellent mileage, it’s them. The mileage figure is down to how much low-end grunt the Xtreme 125R has. Just let go of the clutch a little bit and the bike moves ahead without needing a whole lot of throttle input. And that means you can just slot the bike in 3rd gear and it’ll handle most of your commuting duties without any complaints. The Xtreme 125R also looks very rad. So if it’s your college bike right now, we’re very jealous, for you’ve a bike that looks and goes well while being so easy on the pocket.
TVS Star City - 83kmpl

The TVS Star City is such a good looking commuter that you might overlook the fact that it returns excellent mileage numbers. In our tests, we saw as high as 83kmpl, meaning you’ll be paying a bit over a Rupee for every kilometer you cover, depending on where you live. What we also like is that at Rs 75,541 (ex-showroom Delhi), it’s very affordable but for those who want more, TVS will sell you a front disc brake as an optional accessory. And that’s always a nice thing to have on our roads.
Hero Splendor Plus - 83kmpl
Is it even a surprise to see a big mileage number attached next to that name? The Hero Splendor Plus is an iconic bike and rightly so. That engine is known to be bulletproof and returns excellent economy numbers. In fact, ride at a gentle pace and the mileage figure will easily go closer and closer to 100kmpl. Head online and you’ll even see people reporting mileage figures that were as high as 110-115kmpl!

But the Splendor Plus’ story is more than just its mileage. In its latest iteration, the bike is loaded to the T with features, feels premium (while feeling familiar enough), is built like a tank and with its long seat and comfortable suspension, you know it’s a comfortable bike that’ll last a long time. In fact, the 3D badging on some of the higher Splendor variants looks very premium indeed. So if you think you’re buying just a basic, affordable commuter with the Hero Splendor Plus, you’d be wrong, for it’s a well-rounded product that’s incredibly fuel efficient.

Read More
Onweship Review: Yamaha FZS-FI V4 Delux(Ice Fluo )I have owned this bike since 14th July 2024 and ridden only 6200 km not because it was idle but because I maintained it with utmost care, all service records available. From beginning, I used Motul 7100 10W40 & maintained tyre pressure 29 F & 31 R. This bike deliver me impressive 67Km/L on 5000 RPM on 4th gear I switch to top gear only when need for speed of more than 58KM/H.Read More
Most durable in 110cc class. Most durable and well built. But the Radeon has an advantage over it's rivals and that's the exhaust note with quite nice engine performance for a 110cc and looks are balance between style and practicality. Very economical over long term usage. Excellent for small business and load carrying capacity because of it's robust built quality. Cons: Breaking could be better. Seat foam hardens over time making it uncomfortable.Read More
