Bajaj CT 125X vs Hero Glamour BS6: Performance Numbers Compared

Is the affordable Bajaj commuter the new 125cc champion? We let our test numbers do the talking

Bajaj has stepped into the competitive 125cc commuter bike segment with the new CT 125X. This bike has an attractive price tag and with its rugged styling, looks ready for any riding conditions. But is it worth buying over the tried-and-tested Hero Glamour? Let’s explore with our performance test figures.

Acceleration

Bajaj CT 125X

Hero Glamour

0-60kmph

7.49s

7.10s

0-80kmph

14.19s

13.94s

30-70kmph (3rd Gear)

8.18s

8.64s

40-80kmph (4th Gear)

10.99s

11.89s

The Hero Glamour is marginally faster to the 60kmph mark and gap increases in the sprint to 80kmph. However, the Bajaj is a whole 8kg heavier than the Glamour. And in spite of the heft, it has better in-gear acceleration numbers. That’s down to the shorter initial gears and the strong mid-range of the Bajaj CT 125X.

Braking

Bajaj CT 125X

Hero Glamour BS6

80-0kmph

35.25m

36.25m

60-0kmph

19.13m

19.70m

In terms of braking, the Bajaj commuter has better stopping distance compared to the Glamour. The reason for the better braking on the CT 125X is its weight, and the better tyres. Its mechanical CBS has better stopping power and doesn’t unsettle the front-end.

Fuel Economy

Bajaj CT 125X

Hero Glamour BS6

City Mileage

59.6kmpl

64.10kmpl

Highway Mileage

61.3kmpl

69.49kmpl

Here, the Hero Glamour clearly outperforms the CT 125X by a decent margin. Here’s where the 8kg advantage of the Glmaour comes into play. And for a bike that’s primarily targeted at city riding, this is a bit of a letdown.

Verdict

The Glamour is available at Rs 82,018 (ex-showroom Delhi) which is almost Rs 7,000 more expensive than the Bajaj CT 125X. And for the additional price, you get a more efficient engine with decent performance. So, if budget is not a constraint, the Glamour comes as a great option.
