Quick Highlights:

  • 2025 Yamaha R3 Unveiled Globally

  • Gets new LED lights all round, LCD screen and a slip and assist Clutch

  • May arrive in India sometime next year

Yamaha has unveiled the 2025 R3, bringing this popular model in line with the brand's modern design language which is seen across the bigger R series bikes. This update marks a significant design shift, with inspiration drawn from Yamaha's flagship YZR-M1 racing bike. The R3 had been one of the last models in the  Yamaha’s R lineup to retain the older design language, but the 2025 version changed things for good.

Yamaha is offering the R3 in three colour options in the USA: Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Stealth Black, and Lunar White/Nebula Blue while in Europe, it only gets two colours: Icon Blue and Midnight Black.

What has changed?

A key highlight of the new updated Yamaha R3 is its redesigned front end, which adopts the aggressive styling of Yamaha's R-Series. Notable changes include a new single projector headlight with quad-element LED DRLs, a sharper tail section with LED brake lights, and LED turn indicators. The Team Yamaha Blue and Matte Stealth Black variants have minimal decals, while the Lunar White/Nebula Blue model features larger R3 and Yamaha stickers.

The Team Yamaha Blue model stands out further with blue alloy wheels and gold-finished USD forks, while the other two variants sport black finishes on these components.

The 2025 R3 also features a new LCD screen which gets blue backlighting, offers ride telemetry data and Bluetooth connectivity through Yamaha’s Y-Connect app, although it does not get any kind of navigation support. To aid convenience, the motorcycle is equipped with a USB-A charging port.

What remains the same?

Powering the bike is the same 321cc liquid-cooled inline twin-cylinder engine, generating around 42PS at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox, now featuring a slip and assist clutch.

Other mechanical highlights include inverted fork, a preload-adjustable monoshock, a 298mm disc at the front, a 220 mm disc at the rear, dual-channel ABS, and 17-inch wheels at both ends.

India Launch and Price

While the 2025 Yamaha R3 has been launched in the US and unveiled in Europe , we hope that Yamaha brings the updated R3 to India soon as there is no official release date confirmed by Yamaha for India. As for the price, the 2025 Yamaha R3 is priced at $5,499 in the US , which converts to approximately Rs 4.62 lakh, however European prices are yet to be revealed  – which should happen at EICMA this year.  The Indian-spec R3 costs Rs 4,64,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and we expect the new one to come here some time in 2025. However, it should command a slight premium over the current price. The R3 goes up against the likes of the  Aprilia RS 457, Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the KTM RC 390.
