Ola Gig Expert Review
Overview
The Gig is Ola’s entry into the commercial, b2b electric scooter segment. It’s also Ola’s most affordable scooter line-up and is meant mainly for last-mile delivery usage over short distances in an urban setting.
Ola Gig Price
The Ola Gig is priced at Rs 39,999 while the Gig+ costs Rs 49,999 (both prices ex-showroom).
Ola Gig Colour Options
Ola has not officially revealed colour options for the Gig and Gig+, but they are expected to come in limited paint shades suited for commercial use.
Ola Gig Variants
The Ola Gig comes in 2 variants: the Gig and Gig+. The Gig doesn't have any console, and instead the user needs to use their phone, while the Gig+ gets an LCD console and a more powerful motor.
Ola Gig Design
The Ola Gig follows an extremely functional design approach. It gets an exposed frame without body panels, a single LED headlamp, and a luggage rack at the rear. The Gig+ adds a front apron for better weather protection, a more enclosed design, and an LCD instrument console, but overall retains a purpose-built, practical appearance aimed at delivery-focused users.
Ola Gig Battery & Range
Powering the Ola Gig is a 1.5kWh removable battery paired with a 250W motor, delivering a top speed of 25kmph and a range of 112km. The Gig+ gets the same battery but a stronger 1.5kW motor, offering a top speed of 45kmph. With a single battery, the Gig+ has a range of 81km, and opting for the dual-battery setup increases the range to 157km (all claimed). Both scooters get a swappable battery setup.
Ola Gig Chassis, Brakes, Wheels & Suspension
The Ola Gig is built on a tubular steel frame with a telescopic fork, twin rear shock absorbers, drum brakes and 12-inch steel wheels with tubeless tyres at both ends.
Ola Gig Features
The Ola Gig comes with all LED lighting and luggage mounts. It misses out on an LCD console which shows basic readouts like the speed, odometer, and range - which is available on the Gig+.
Ola Gig Competition
The Ola Gig competes with other slow-speed electric scooters like the Komaki X One and the Gig undercuts almost every other electric scooter by about Rs 10,000.
