The 2025 Dio comes with a couple of updates, but is it enough to take the fight to the NTorq 125?

The two of the most popular names in the sporty 125c scooter space are the Honda Dio 125 and the TVS NTorq 125. Honda recently launched the 2025 Dio 125 in India, and we compare it against the popular TVS NTorq in images:

    Design

Both the scooters get sporty styling that is aimed at younger buyers, and get an apron mounted headlight. The 2025 Honda Dio 125 gets refreshed graphics with five new colours: Mat Marvel Blue Metallic, Pearl Deep Ground Gray, Pearl Sports Yellow, Pearl Igneous Black, and Imperial Red.

The TVS NTorq 125 has a chunkier design in comparison and looks bigger. It comes in multiple editions with bold colours and unique decals like the Race Edition, Super Squad (Marvel themed), Race XP, and Race XT.

    Engine

The Honda Dio 125 gets a 123.92cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, producing 8.3PS and 10.5Nm. It’s now OBD-2B compliant and gets an engine idle stop-start system for better fuel efficiency.

The TVS NTorq 125 gets a slightly larger 124.8cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine making 9.38PS and 10.5Nm, while the Race XP and XT variants make 10.2PS and 10.9Nm - with a top-speed of 98kmph. The XP variant even gets two riding modes: Street and Race.

    Underpinnings

Both scooters use a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup. The Honda Dio gets a front disc or drum brake (depending on variant) and a rear drum brake, paired with CBS (Combi Braking System). It weighs around 104kg kerb and has a 12-10 inch wheel and tyre setup.

The NTorq 125 gets a 220mm front petal disc and a 130mm drum at the rear, also with CBS. It rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends and tips the scales at 111kg kerb.

    Features

The Honda scooter now gets a 4.2-inch TFT console with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call/SMS alerts, a USB Type-C charger, and a keyless ignition on the top H-Smart variant.

The NTorq is more feature packed in comparison – it gets Bluetooth connectivity, an underseat USB charging port, turn-by-turn navigation, voice assist, call/SMS alerts, and phone battery status across all variants. Meanwhile the Race XT variant offers a TFT console with two screens which shows caller ID, last parked location, live ride status sharing, and even live cricket score updates.

    BikeDekho Says

Both scooters bring a lot to the table. The TVS NTorq 125 remains the king of the class, offering more power, features, and a more exciting ride. If you want a lightweight, efficient, tech-friendly scooter for daily use, the Dio 125 is a great pick. But if outright performance, features, and sporty appeal matter more, the NTorq 125 still holds its crown.
