Yamaha XSR 155 Gets Retro-Futuristic Treatment

This custom Yamaha XSR1 155 has been created by Yasashii Garage for the 2021 Yamaha Yard Built Indonesia event 

‘Yamaha Yard Built’ is an event dedicated to customised Yamaha bikes (more often, the XSR range). For its 2021 iteration in Indonesia, Yasashii Garage has come up with a futuristic scrambler-take on the Yamaha XSR 155.

The neo-retro roadster’s stock bodywork had been replaced by hand-built aluminium panels with plenty of angular creases to give it a futuristic appeal. The inverted front fork arms are covered by large aluminium shrouds with bold Yasashii stickers. The round LED headlamp has been replaced by a small LED unit with a large flat cowl to go with the overall design theme of the bike. Don’t expect it to be as powerful as a regular headlight, though.

For a sporty, clutter-free look, the bike comes with a single seat with an integrated cowl and a number plate holder with LED indicators. Franky Mory, the man behind the custom, has given the bike a rather unique rear suspension setup. The stock swingarm is replaced by a custom unit with a complex linkage mechanism for the horizontally mounted monoshock, sitting in parallel above the swingarm itself. The rear disc also gets a ventilated shroud to complete the look. 

They’ve also equipped the bike with a custom underbelly exhaust to ensure one can get an unobstructed view of the rear suspension. The Yamaha R15-derived 155cc 19.3PS/14.7Nm single-cylinder motor with Variable Valve Actuation is likely to be stock apart from the exhaust system. 

While the alloy wheels are unchanged, they are painted in grey and wrapped with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber at both ends for optimum off-road performance. Overall, this is one of the more creative builds of the XSR 155 we’ve seen. What do you think?
