Yamaha R2 Teased Again Ahead Of Launch
Just 48 hours to go, and the R2 teases again

The R2 has been teased again ahead of its launch on Yamaha India’s official Instagram handle. From the looks of it, the bike will be launched in the iconic Yamaha Blue colour scheme and will have a 3D tank emblem, as seen in the teaser. The bike is set to be unveiled on August 27. Here’s what we can expect.
The bike is expected to be powered by a 200cc liquid-cooled engine, which will be based on the R15’s tried-and-tested 155cc motor. The expected power figures are around 25 PS and 20 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
Features

In the feature list, the bike is most likely to get a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. It is also expected to get a ride-by-wire throttle, which should enable features like ride modes and even a bidirectional quick shifter
On the safety front, the bike should get dual-channel ABS along with switchable traction control.
Rivals And Pricing
The Yamaha R2 is expected to be priced around Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it head-to-head with its main rival, the KTM RC 200. It will also rival the likes of the Bajaj RS 200 and Hero Karizma XMR.
The pre-bookings are open for the bike on the official website, and Yamaha says that one of the first 100 lucky customers will get a special surprise. You can read more about it in our Yamaha R2 pre-booking story.
