World Environment Day 2025: These Upcoming Electric Two-Wheelers In India Prove That Going Green Can Be Exciting
From more affordable scooters to exciting electric bikes, here’s what to expect in the next 12 months

On the occasion of the 2025 World Environment Day, we have compiled a list of electric bikes and scooters which are set to hit the Indian roads in the next 12 months. By the time we celebrate the 2026 World Environment Day, the Indian market will be teeming with some really interesting EVs. Here’s a list:
Upcoming Launches
There are quite a few exciting electric bikes and scooters that will be launched in the coming months. The first of this will be the updated Bajaj Chetak 2903 model, which will be the most affordable scooter in the Chetak range.

It could get updates that will bring it inline with the Bajaj Chetak 35 series, with changes such as a floorboard-mounted battery pack, and an increased underseat storage. The scooter could likely be launched in India by the end of June 2025.

Ather Energy is not that far behind, as the brand has also been eyeing the entry-level electric scooter segment. According to the brand’s filings, Ather is working on an affordable electric scooter range based on a platform codenamed “EL”. The platform will see some changes, including the usage of LFP (lithium-iron phosphate) batteries, instead of NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide), which should help keep the costs in check.
Another interesting news which we learnt recently is that TVS is working on bringing a new electric scooter in FY26 (by the end of March 2026). This was revealed by TVS Motor Company’s MD Sudarshan Venu, in a recent interview. We expect the scooter to be a sporty one, and it could be a really good competitor to the Ather 450 series. This makes sense considering TVS already has the iQube electric scooter range to cater to family-oriented electric scooter buyers.

The Suzuki E-Access is also coming to India soon, and it will be the first electric scooter from the Japanese manufacturer. The E-Access features a sharp design, and is powered by a 4.1kW motor, and a 3.07kWh fixed battery pack. In terms of performance the scooter will have a claimed top speed of 71kmph and a claimed range of 95km. While it was already unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 (Auto Expo 2025), the pricing is likely to be announced by the end of June 2025.
Hero has also been working on a new variant of the Vida electric scooter called the Vida VX2. The scooter is set to be launched on July 1, 2025, and images of the scooter have recently surfaced online as well. Judging by the photos, the e-scooter looks like a rebranded version of the Hero Vida Z that was showcased at Bharat Mobility Global Expo. We expect the scooter to come at a price of around Rs 79,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Electric scooters aside, we can also expect a new electric bike to be launched. Oben has been working on a new electric bike platform called Oben O100. The first upcoming electric bike, based on this platform is aimed to offer similar performance as a 100cc petrol-powered commuter bike, so it will go up against the Hero Splendor Plus. The brand has also planned on keeping the pricing competitive. To this end, we believe Oben may go with a Battery As A Service (BAAS) scheme. This means you’ll only have to pay the price of the vehicle excluding the battery pack. Using the battery pack will be chargeable on a monthly basis.
Upcoming Deliveries
Ultraviolette launched two new models, the Shockwave and the Tesseract in March this year. The Shockwave is a road-legal dual-sport/enduro electric bike, which is a one-of-a-kind offering in the market right now, with no natural rivals at the moment.

The Tesseract, on the other hand, is more of a performance oriented maxi-style electric scooter with tons of features. The main highlight is the radar tech which acts like an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Even though the prices have been announced, the deliveries of both the models are set to begin from the first quarter of 2026 (January - March 2026), and we are looking forward to seeing both on the streets.

Lastly, while the deliveries of the Ola Roadster X have already commenced, there are still several variants under the Roadster that are yet to hit the roads. The deliveries of these will commence (likely phase-wise) in the coming months. In an earnings call, Ola confirmed that it is currently focussing on getting the Roadster range out first, followed by other EVs.

Ultraviolette Tesseract - The future EV scooterI have booked this book during the initial launch offer. I have been patiently waiting for the launch and keeping in touch with Ultraviolette Kondapur branch for the launch updates and developments going. Eager to ride this super futuristic vehicle as soon as it launches. I am looking forward to ride this vehicle in next January 2027. It has been more than a year we have been waiting for it. Ride seems superb as per demos. Yes, the futuristic features and comfort of riding. Its radar technology gives you more safer rides. The comfort of seat is advantage for only two riders. I am still doubtful about its ground clearance.Read More
