Upcoming Honda Activa Electric Launch Timeline Revealed

Tsutsumu Otani, CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has revealed the launch timeline of the upcoming Honda Activa Electric

Quick News Highlights:

- The Honda Activa Electric will be launched by March 2025.
- May be compatible with the Honda e:Swap battery swapping technology.
- Will rival the likes of TVS iQube, Ola S1 Air, Ather Rizta, Vida V1 Pro & the Bajaj Chetak.

For the past few years, there has been news about Honda developing a new electric scooter for India, which will be launched as the Honda Activa Electric. Now, Tsutsumu Otani, CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has officially revealed the launch timeline of the upcoming Activa electric scooter to another publication at the SIAM (Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers) Annual Convention 2024.

The Honda CEO revealed that the launch of the manufacturer’s first-ever EV two-wheeler has been delayed for almost a year, but now the Japanese manufacturer is all set to bring the Honda Activa Electric to the Indian market by March 2025.

Honda Activa Electric: What To Expect?

The upcoming Honda Activa electric scooter may also be compatible with the Honda e:Swap battery swapping technology. The Honda e:Swap network is already present in Bengaluru, Karnataka and is operational at the Metro stations and HPCL (Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited) petrol stations across the city. The Japanese manufacturer may expand it across the country using its already strong dealer and customer touchpoint network. This will help Honda stand out and will also reduce range anxiety in the rider’s mind.

Honda has been dominating the Indian scooter market for almost 2 decades now. The Honda Activa 6G and Activa 125 have been dominating the sales charts with around 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh scooters sold every month. Now, with the upcoming electric scooter, Honda will aim to dominate the electric scooter market as well. We expect the Japanese manufacturer to price the scooter aggressively, making it affordable for the masses.

The petrol-powered Activa range misses out on many features. The upcoming Activa Electric is likely to come feature-loaded which will also help it to compete with its rivals. The electric scooter will likely include a touchscreen instrument console, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, hill-hold assist, a reverse mode and riding modes. The upcoming Activa Electric may also get keyless operation functionality, like on the Activa 6G H-Smart variants. Being a family-focused scooter, it may also get a lot of practical features and storage spaces including cubby holes, storage hooks and a spacious underseat storage space with a boot light.

The upcoming Honda Activa Electric is likely to be priced at around Rs 1 lakh - 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. It will mainly rival the TVS iQube along with other electric scooters in the market including Ola S1 Air, Ather Rizta, Vida V1 Pro and the Bajaj Chetak.
