TVS Raider: Same Price, Other Options

Five two-wheelers to choose from if you aren’t smitten by the new TVS 125cc commuter

Five two-wheelers to choose from if you aren’t smitten by the new TVS 125cc commuter

TVS has re-entered the 125cc motorcycle segment in India with the Raider. It’s the Hosur-based bikemaker’s commuter offering with a dash of sportiness. The asking price for the TVS Raider is set to Rs 77,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). But, if you want to explore other models for a similar price, check these out.

Honda SP125 - Rs 78,381

The Honda SP125 is one of the prominent rivals to the TVS Raider. It’s powered by a 124cc engine that develops 10.8PS and 10.9Nm. Sure, the power figures are a bit low, but there’s a 6kg weight difference, which should compensate for the Honda’s power deficit to quite an extent. Moreover, you also get the reliability of the Japanese engine. Honda offers the SP125 in two variants: drum and disc. The former costs Rs 78,381 while the latter is priced at Rs 82,677.

Hero Glamour Xtec - Rs 78,900

Next on the list of the Raider’s foes is the Hero Glamour Xtec. The bike was launched back in July with a price tag of Rs 78,900 for the drum variant and Rs 83,500 for the disc. Like the Raider, the Glamour Xtec too gets a host of features like Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation with Google map connectivity, bank angle sensor (it shuts off the engine during a fall) and a side stand engine cut off too. It’s powered by a 124cc motor churning out 10.8PS and 10.6Nm.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 - Rs 77,843

One could possibly not miss out on the Bajaj Pulsar 125. It uses a 124cc motor developing  11.8PS (0.5PS more than the Raider) and 10.8Nm. Bajaj offers the Pulsar 125 in three variants: drum, disc and split seat. Prices for the standard model start from Rs 77,843 and the split seat model costs Rs 80,698.

TVS NTorq 125 Race XP - Rs 84,025

In the mix, you can also opt for the TVS NTorq 125 Race XP, priced at Rs 84,025. It houses a 125cc single-cylinder mill that belts out 10.2PS and 10.8Nm. Moreover, the NTorq 125 Race XP is also one of the most feature-rich petrol-powered scooters in the country. You get two ride modes (race and street), voice assist, navigation, console brightness adjustment, DnD mode, LED lights, USB charging port, boot light and an external fuel-filler cap too. All these factors should make it a good alternative.

Yamaha RayZR 125 Hybrid - Rs 76,830

Earlier this month, Yamaha launched its RayZR 125 Hybrid. As the name suggests, the new RayZR 125 gets a hybrid motor. It’s essentially a 125cc engine that makes 8.2PS and 10.3Nm and is assisted by a ‘Smart Motor Generator’ system. This helps you get off the line quicker without any jolts. The asking price for the RayZR 125 Hybrid is set to Rs 76,830 for the drum variant and Rs 79,830 for the disc model. The latter offers a laundry list of features including Bluetooth connectivity to access parameters like Ride History, Hazard Lamp function, Locate My Vehicle, Parking Record and Answer Back.

Glamour Bike

I'm riding this bike for approximately 8 years. The servicing cost is low if you change the engine oil every 3,000 to 3,500 kilometres. The mileage was 60 km/l before ethanol, but after ethanol, the mileage has reduced by approximately 10 km/l. Whether you use the bike for rough or regular riding, there hasn't been a single problem. So, if you want to save on daily fuel and other expenses, buy it now.Read More

This is a powerful model and very strong

I chose this bike because it offers smooth highway performance, great mileage, friendly, comfort and stylish looks, despite having slightly stiff suspension for city rides and its very easy to drive. Comfort handling, the seats are well cushioned for long trips and the suspension handles bumps smoothly steering is light in the city and plants firmly at high speed and it's very good and its safety is really nice. This is bike is very powerful and strong and mileage is really good, it's very smooth to drive, perfect and excellent suspension, and this bike quality is awesome, Its safety is really great., i would recommend to everyone.Read More
